I don't know if the Avs can sustain this, but I think it's clear they are much, much better with Roy as their coach. It's night and day from last year really.

That is almost always going to happen when you get rid of such a bad coach. A lot of teams go through the new coach phase of sudden rapid improvement, that is how Bruce Boudreau won his coach of the year award in Washington.

The Avs have a lot of good young players up front, but the back position still lacks quality. @Baaaston and @Washington should be good tests of how the defence stacks up.

It's early, new defensive scheme. They went from a zone to man.

Kind of like MAF goes from a to m.

I like their team d. And their length. I would say we are middle of the pack. Respectable. Mack couldnt clear the zone which resulted in the goal duchane was 70% on faceoffs. Mack was 18%

Does manning playhockey?

The rook really needs to get better on faceoffs. He's terrible in that area atm. Then again he's still just a kid.

Ray Finkle, your goalie is playing like dog **** vs Anaheim. Three goals in the first period.

Congrats guys. Giguere played the game of his freaking life last night. Not much you can do when you run into a goalie playing like that.

What was up with that ref crew last night? Some REALLY odd calls I'm still shaking my head over.

It really is bizarre. No idea what it could be, other than a random fluke, given the amount of time that has passed between matchups and the changes in coaching and rosters. I've always felt that home ice is pretty overrated anyway, and stats like that really magnify it.

I thought the Bruins outplayed the Avs for the most part in the third period. There were a lot of squandered opportunities in a do or die situation there by Boston. Colorado really made some gritty plays, and Giguere played amazing.

It's only four games The Rockies teased us early in the season too...

I am excited to see this team grow-up, however. Lots of young talent on the roster for sure.

It is early and the Avs are hot. When their hot streak ends and things settle down, we'll have a better idea of where they match up. That said, this is a good mix of youth and experience and they are adopting the attitude of their coach. Roy has them playing together and playing good team defense.

And unlike the Rockies who have finished in last or second to last place 12 of the last fifteen years, the Avs have actually fielded a team that perennially made the playoffs thirteen of fifteen years and won the Stanley Cup two times.

It got worst but I was really worried about the beginning of the season with injuries to Anaheim's defense (Sbisa) and the horrible game vs the Avs. Since then, won 2 on the road and clobbered the Rangers at our home opener 6-0.

BTW, Honda Center got its first face lift in its 20+ years of service. Come on down 24champ for a Kings vs Ducks game this season. Restuarant before the game and huge hockey store now.
