Of course, instead of allowing the ACA to flounder at the opening bell, the Tea Party forced a government shutdown as a distraction.

So instead of the ACA being wildly unpopular, the GOP are taking it in the shorts instead and getting the blame for shutting down government.

Meanwhile, the ACA rambles on as a secondary story.

Great strategy!

DenverBrit says this means that Singapore's free-market private practice sector is 'ENTIRELY regulated'. You couldn't be more wrong.

Never said 'ENTIRELY', you did! Once again you're being a dishonest wanker.

You're not only wrong about this, you're wrong about the competitive nature of their healthcare market.

Here is exactly what I posted that you keep denying without bringing anything of value to the debate.

From your article:

Primary healthcare costs

"Day-to-day healthcare services are relatively affordable in Singapore. A routine check-up with a General Practicioner plus (generic) medicine will likely cost you around S$20-S$30 while blood-work and x-ray will cost you around S$50-S$80. Roughly 20% of primary health care is provided through the government polyclinics, while the remaining 80% is provided through some 2,000 private medical clinics. Specialist consultation in a private clinic might cost you between S$75 -S$125."

Those are ALL free-market primary healthcare prices listed above. Government heavily restricts pricing in hospital settings (but not private practice).

As I have stated on this forum, previously, 80% of the primary healthcare is largely unregulated, private, free-market (the other 20% is government).

Whereas, 80% of the hospital sector is government (the other 20% is private (with government pricing).

Private insurance is not a popular option in Singapore (and is not widely used). Patients use their HSA accounts instead.

Unfortunately Obamacare just makes costs increase for everybody.

The vast majority (~80%) of healthcare transactions in Singapore, occur in the largely unregulated free-market sector. Most Singaporeans do not purchase private health insurance, they rely on their HSA accounts for all healthcare transactions. Only the poor rely on heavily subsidized government clinics.

Singaporeans spend 4% of GDP on healthcare. Compare that to Americans who spend 18% and Germans who spend 12%.

When exactly do liberals estimate that Obamacare will cause healthcare costs (as a % of GDP) to drop in the US, and how much?

Code:
Procedure US Singapore
Heart Bypass $140,000 $25,000
Hip Replacement $45,000 $13,000
Knee Replacement $40,000 $15,000

Why do Singaporeans have enough in their "HSA" to pay for all that?

Any ideas?

Why? Is there a law that says that Singaporeans must save for medical expenses?

Are there price controls?

Unbelievable!! Your constant moving of the goalposts makes me think you're bi-polar.

Your comment.

No, Denver Brit, the public and private healthcare sectors in Singapore DO NOT compete against each other.
You assertion, like a many of yours on the subject is dead wrong. YOU are the only one making any claim about competition.

Nor did I say there was not a private market, I clearly acknowledge it in an earlier post. It was never in dispute.

How's my sammich coming along??

Yes to both. Mandates, like the ones that closed down the US government.

Which makes it an odd choice for the right wingers to want to emulate.

The effects of regulating healthcare.

It's amusing to watch the GOP blame Obama for closing down the government, the twisted logic is similar to that used around here by the far right.

I guess it plays to their 'fan base', no one else is fooled....more like WTF??

boner has complained about Obama wanting to destroy the rethug party when in reality they did it to themselves. this could be the beginning of the end for them, they are going to have to go to their base and explain why they shut down the government and got nothing in return.

Have you kiddies not read a word I said about this over the last couple weeks.

I told you this would not come down to the debt ceiling or 'defunding' Obamacare. The prize Republicans were after was delaying the mandate.

Now they're closing in on what two weeks ago you would've called impossible, and you're chalking it up as a loss for them.

Ftr, a deal has already been reached for a clean CR.

Edit: which makes a delay impossible.

Unless you're reading something I'm not, the deal is over the debt ceiling, not a CR to fund the government.
