Do you think it's responsible for a "shut down" government to spend more resources on blocking off public areas than they've ever spent on maintaining access to those areas?

Gee, I don't know. How did we get in this fix?

Because Democrats have said there can be no government unless citizens are immediately forced to sign up for insurance on an utterly broken system?

Republicans are willing to fund NPS today. The VA today. Interior... check. Military... check. They're willing to fund everything but the individual mandate.

It's Democrats who say nothing gets funded until the mandate does.

Actually republicans are also willing to pass a clean CR, but that won't happen either.

It's republicans who are holding their own party (and the rest of the country) hostage.

Look within your own ranks before pointing fingers.

Even Jon Stewart is openly questioning the epic O-Care Rollout facepalm. Delaying the mandate is both a blessing in disguise for Democrats, and just the right thing to do.

Health insurers are starting to wonder what's going on and how they're going to sign millions of new entrants over two months on a system that doesn't work. And this is all unfolding real time. Republicans gain more leverage every day.

Yeah. They're gaining more leverage.

Which is why more members of their own party are going on record every day, saying they will vote for a CR not tied to the ACA.

Some strategy!

A clean CR isn't happening. So you have no point.

Yeah. That's the main reason I'm opposed to the ACA, the mandate. I don't know why the Republicans came up with that idea in the first place.

I know there are individuals out there working for the federal government that value true public service and see themselves that way. But on the whole, most of our bureaucratic institutions are corrupt, and would use whatever means they thought they could get away with to protect their turf above and against the public's true interest.

Well, I'll re-face that by saying a long-term clean CR isn't happening.

They might do a short-term week or month-long deal if negotiations open up. But Obama has rebuffed any talk about short-term CRs.

actually he hasn't,he stated today that he is willing to do another short term extension for a couple months, but won't negotiate on anything until that happens.
