Beltran with a 3 run homer in the 3rd, Cardinals lead Pittsburgh 3-0. Sorry, Hogan, but we're winning this.

Beltran's 16th post-season homer, ties Babe Ruth.

Dusty Baker is out as manager of the Cincinnati Reds, three days after his team lost the National League wild-card game to Pittsburgh.

That's a shame....I've heard Dusty Baker is a really unique and cool dude.

I was up near Missoula, Montana fishing in Rock Creek several years back and I went into a little fly fishing store near Rock Creek and the owners were an old couple and talked about how Dusty Baker loved to fly fish and would stop in the store a few times a year and was super cool and about as unassuming as it gets.

Every time I see Dusty Baker I think of the old man walking around in the store talking store waving his hands around talking about Duuuusty Baker!

Who knows, the old guy might have been out of his gourd for years and regaled the next customer in the store with stories of Mickey Mantle stopping in a few times a year....and the Mick has been gone almost 20 years.

Loved Dusty when he was a Dodger. When he went to the Giants, he died to me.

The closed-door hearing going on at the Park Avenue offices of Major League Baseball to decide the fate of Alex Rodriguez's 211-game suspension will not be the last fight between the league and its leading active home run hitter.

It may just be the first.

Rodriguez filed a lawsuit Friday morning in New York State Supreme Court that alleges Major League Baseball and commissioner Bud Selig have had one goal in mind: "to improperly marshal evidence that they hope to use to destroy the reputation and career of Alex Rodriguez."

Dodgers get the split in Atlanta. Now, they just need to win two at home.

WTG Braves! But I'm really struggling with the A's Tigers series. My grandfather was a big Tigers fan, would love to see them win it all. But I love the A's, ever since the early 70's. They've struggled with the Tigers in postseason lately. Oh well, nice to have 3 teams I like in the postseason.

Tigers are a great team though. I think the Dodgers or Tigers will win it all.

The Tigers beat Oakland 3-2.

Solid start from Max Scherzer.

Great to take the first game of the series on the road.

I like when Boston wins because it pisses Yankee fans off.

I hope the Tigers didn't waste a masterful performance by Justin Verlander.

Game tied 0-0 in the bottom of the 8th inning.

The Tigers lose 1-0 and waste a great performance from Justin Verlander.

Detroit's bats went cold at the end of the regular season and it's carried over into the playoffs.

On the bright side, they head back to Detroit with the series tied 1-1.

Miguel Cabrera is limping along and trying his best, but the various injuries he has to his hip and his core area keep him from getting any power or torque and he's been reduced to a singles hitter.

His injuries aren't an excuse for the rest of the team not to hit though....they've got other bats in the lineup that need to step up.

Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander have both come through with excellent starting performances in the playoffs...I expect Anibal Sanchez and Doug Fister to follow them with solid outings as well.

not me because I lump both together and would love for Lackey to fail more in Boston for leaving the Angels.

wow, if A's hold on they'll go up 2-1. Very surprising indeed.

Pirates could knock off the Cards here. I honestly would love to see the Pirates play in the NLCS and heck World Series. Man can you imagine playing the Braves, revenge for the defeats 20+ years earlier? haha

Sounded like Nelasco was going to get his shot. I guess somebody got nervous.

Apparently Donnie planned to have Kershaw start game 4 if we won game 3. He apparently called Kershaw into his office and asked how he felt about the move and Kershaw was all for it, ready to go.
