He wasn't arrested. Most workplaces have policies against marijuana use and consequences if you are caught.

The NFL is not "most work places". The NBA has a no testing in offseason for marijuana - NFL should do the same thing - ESPECIALLY when you look at available treatments for PCS - see link http://medicalmarijuana.com/medical-...ssion-Syndrome

If you wanna play in the NFL...you gotta follow their rules, just like anyone else that hires you.

I think the NFL should start talking about lifetime bans for DUI convictions, failed drug tests, PED's, and other felonious convictions like drug running, assault, manslaughter, etc.....that might wake a few of these clowns up.

how many athletes would be willing to commit a felony, drive drunk, use PED's or drugs if they knew their career would be over if they're caught the first time?

Let them go play in the arena league for all I care.....tired of players acting like they're from the State Pen instead of Penn State.

.....then maybe these dumbasses should submit resume's to the NBA. And the majority of clowns pushing for "medical" marijuana are just pot smokers who want an excuse to do it.

if they were tall enough, and had skills, they WOULD be in the NBA - guaranteed money and at least twice as much.

What is the "excuse" for having a beer? Just sayin'......

Lifetime bans?

Some of you people have some serious power issues.

So my bad.
Manning is not a good example as your typical athlete.

Why not use Tim Tebow why you're at it.

Fewer roster spots though......just saying.

As for an excuse to have a beer....I have no problem with the NFL saying their players can smoke dope...but at this current moment, the NFL says they can't.

I for the life of me have no idea why players who make hundreds of thousands to millions of $$$ that would risk that to smoke a joint....but then again they're obviously not very bright people to begin with.

That's pretty cool.

Difference is, your kids still got to be your kids. You didn't kill or disown one of your kids in front on the others as an example.

That's not even close to your suggestion of lifetime bans.

No, but if you put as much effort and time in a field of interest as they did in their sport throughout their lives, you'd probably be in a much better place now and possibly have hundreds of thousands to millions of $$$ too...

Instead of all this hatred for these athletes because they have all this $$$.

Neither do I, especially when they have access to so many more potent, highly addictive, and far more destructive pain killers.

can someone get Elway on the phone. Errand can give Von an I mean it spanking and maybe we wouldn't have to worry about another suspension.

A part of me is annoyed at Von for being a giant dumbass who can't follow simple rules and who thought trying to cheat them was the better way to go. Another part of me is annoyed with the NFL's "Reefer Madness" inspired code of conduct. I'm sorry, but I do not give a **** if professional athletes use recreational drugs (especially pot) as long as it doesn't adversely affect their performance in games.

It's a stupid rule, but it's a rule they agreed to and are compensated more than fairly to obey.

I also think it's pretty naive to assume that Von was simply smoking a little pot.

Because ThAT happens all time, I mean great metaphor and example, really did a great job wrapping up this discussion in a neat little package. Seriously this is a great example to use, they teach this in parenting class, because the kids grow up to be fine upstanding citizens.......

I don't really care what drugs he was doing honestly as long as he can continue to play at a high level. That said, the player's union did agree to the retarded rule, so yes he needs to follow it.

Oh I agree. I just think the whole, 'It was only marijuana!' complaint is weak and presumptuous.

Not going to make this a new thread (But Kaylore can jump on it and put a poll with the thread) but I believe Von had this completely set up before he got to Miami and knew that he would do the drugs knowing he had his scapegoat planned?
