The only thing beating this defense right now is garbage time

I noticed Shaun Phillips twice yesterday, both times he was being tackled by their RT and the obvious holding wasn't called.

I was thinking the same thing, but looking at the stats he did have a TFL.

Consider this, and Champ Bailey instead of Tony Carter... WOW this team can be good.

I think Bailey night be a step back. Maybe not, but we'll see.

Having a good D has to make you smile, particularly when you consider that train wreck of a defense that team from D.C. is fielding. Which could be our D if Mr. Bowlen didn't make that bold move a few years ago...

Good thread. This is why there shouldn't be so much worrying about pre-season performances.... defense and special teams looked suspect at best in pre-season and now look at them.

Here's what excites me: teams will finally be throwing at Champ, with DRC on the other side. What happens when teams throw at Champ? The play ends with the ball in Champs hands, that's what. Teams have been avoiding him for years - ever since 2006, anyways.

Further, Von Miller will be making QB's rush the ball out - not giving them time to realize that it's not a good idea to throw in Champs side of the field.

After 2 games, this D is dominant in the run game and roughly league average in the pass game. plug in Champ and Von, and this team will be historically elite.

5 - 15th in the league. This after playing Baltimore and NYG, two teams that gave up 38 (13th) and 20 (32nd) last year.

We aren't doing bad statically, but not near league leaders so far.

That is what happens when you go from having Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil on the ends to Robert Ayers and Shaun Philips. Getting Miller back will make for some interesting dynamics.

Even the Giants fans around me called holding on both those plays.

21st in both yards and points per game.

Offense is 3rd in yards, 1st in points.

Nobody should be concerned by this. We are clearly letting our foot off the gas, even if slightly, in the 2nd half of games.

No big deal.

I mostly agree. I think we should be at least mildly concerned with the lack of pass rush, but not overly concerned. We're not giving up all those passing yards in garbage time, and our lack of pass rush is part of the reason. But, on the positive side, Von will help and both Baltimore and NYG are pretty good in pass protection.

There were 3 blocks that made it happen, but still, he did alot of that on his own. And it was funny as hell to see those 5 giants players all collide at the 50 yard like trying to get him, hahaha.

Von will definitely help the pass rush when he returns in 4 more games

Champ returning is going to make it that much better.

This defense will be really good again this year. Top 5 I will say. Looks like we're yet again the most well rounded equally balanced team in the NFL (offense, defense, ST). Just gotta put it all together when it's clutch time.

I am sure many do but money might be better spent somewhere else. We brought in some good players that are paying dividends now ie. DRC .

I didn't understand what happened until seeing it for like the 4th time. I thought it had hit the ground and wondered why everyone thought it was our ball.
