Broncosí Center Manny Ramirez signed a two year extension two days ago and we can now report the full numbers on the contract. Per a league source Ramirezí contract is worth $3.15 million in base value with potential to earn an additional $2.85 million in incentives over the life of the contract.
Ramirezí base salary remains intact in 2013 and he also received a $500,000 signing bonus. The signing bonus is the only portion of the contract that is guaranteed, though his salary for the current season is essentially guaranteed anyway. Ramirez now has a playtime incentive worth $250,000 in 2013. His base salary in 2014 will be $1.25 million and he can earn an additional $1 million in playtime incentives. In 2015 Ramirezí base salary will be $1.4 million and the incentive rises to $1.6 million.

Manny extended for backup pay, so now people can go back to fighting about whether or not the FO views him as a starter.

Are the Broncos a better team with Champ at the corner....or Carter at the corner?

Really, that's the question. Hands down Champ.....so he's still valuable to us (period).

Mannys play further solidifies the depth of the Brocos offensive line and this contract projects that production forward. I don't think there are any disillusions in the FO that JD Walton is the best C on this roster. Fans can argue all they want to the degree of Walton's production, and now health, what his value is to this team, but the evidence remains relavent to his status in their eyes. IMHO Walton provides an upgrade in intelligence, physicality, and can hold his own as a pass blocker in this system.

Dirt cheap contract.....I like it. The FO seems to have a great ability to underpay players, not that this is a perfect example, but still.

I'd love to see Walton come back and succeed but there are serious doubts as to whether that can happen. Can he return to top form after sitting out the majority of two seasons? It's not always a foregone conclusion that a player gets back to where they were at in terms of playing level, let alone the physical/health aspect alone.

That is what you can do when you are a super bowl contender. Players want to win, they want to play for a team that is strong.

The good news is the Broncos seem to be taking this into account. If Manny works out his incentives kick in, and the Broncos have a reasonably paid backup G/C. If Walton comes back and he can't compete at a high level they have the flexibility to develop a younger player, be patient with Walton, or take a chance on a guy in FA without having to fear lack of depth at the position. It's a win across the board for the team because no matter what they end up with a starter or starting caliber backup and flexibility to strengthen the position.

ManRam has REALLY stepped up. I love this move. I have no problem paying him this even if he does slide back to depth.

Decker is too streaky to be overpaid on his next contract. He's replaceable.

Champ is worth his money at either CB or moving over to Safety.

A lot that might hinge on whether or not Denver keeps DRC and how much he'll cost

God, my memory is not that great to pinpoint exactly the games, the plays, and what have you, but it's been noticeable he's lost a step or two. No biggie, it happens...

Bailey is not the player he used to be. Anybody who thinks otherwise needs glasses. He's an older CB and they tend to lose a step or 2, so it's not a knock on Champ as it is just reality.

The combination of center Manuel Ramirez and right guard Louis Vasquez have yet to allow a single pressure.
