Default 2011 Draft was historically loaded with defensive talent

http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/...se-draft-class

Quote:
Three different organizations pick All-Pro teams, but there's some overlap: eight defensive players were named first-team All-Pros on each of those three teams. And of those eight players, four were from the 2011 draft: Watt, Smith, Sherman, and Miller. That has never happened before. Only four second-year players had made it to a first-team All-Pro squad in the previous six years, and there was just one instance of even three second-year guys making it to an All-Pro team, in 2001. It's impossible to judge something as arbitrary as defensive play across eras, but this is certainly the most decorated set of sophomores since the merger.
I know this is a "duh" statement, but it's still a cool article.

The 2011 defensive draft and the 2012 QB draft will both go down in history among the best ever.

If you look at the first round in 2011 it really is astonishing. Almost every single team got a great player. It was hard to **** up that year.

Lets slow down there on the 2012 draft there buddy.
2011 looks amazeballs though.
Aside from the defense, throw in AJ Green, Julio Jones, Torrey Smith, Randall Cobb, Cecil Shorts at WR with Demarco Murray, Stevan Ridley at RB and Cam Newton, pretty decent offense as well.

Whoa whoa dude. Settle down just a little bit there ok. Don't get all excited. Don't you think these QB's need to play at least a few more seasons before you lose your load. You can speculate all you want, only time will tell.

don't forget some dude named Colin Kaepernick

2011 draft should go down as an all-timer

I'd just like Kap to have a full season before I start crowning him. Because well, even Rex Grossman looked good for half a season once.

well you dropped the names of Demarco Murray and Cecil Short, so I think Kaep is pretty safe. certainly he's a feather in the draft class' cap as of now.

and no one ever thought Rex Grossman was even good, much less great. Kaepernick passes all the tests.

Man, knowing some Bear fans, back then was a freakin nightmare. And then the Cutler trade. Yeah. ugh. Hate the Bears because of some of the dick fans of them I know.

I lost any respect I had for duh bear fans during the mid 90's. At the time duh bears were terrible and Green Bay was in the midst of a SB run and all the bear fans were rooting for the Packers to win the SB. How could anyone ever root for a team in their own division is beyond me.

Then when they started winning games on D they all came back. Totally disgusting, and with all the great history, best fight song ever, Hallas, Ditka, that 63 and 85 team and they can't weather a couple of bad years.

The 2009 draft has to be one of the worst.

The 2011 draft in general was extremely strong.

ok, I guess we shouldn't be impressed with the kid getting to the super bowl after taking over mid way through the season. I guess we shouldn't take anything from his world class athleticism, his top tier arm strength, his poise, or his leadership. instead, we should just say that any QB that hasn't won the super bowl is the exact same as every other QB, and that it is actually impossible to differentiate between REX ****ING GROSSMAN and COLIN KAEPERNICK without a decade of game film. use your ****ing brain.
