Default Antonio Smith suspended for 1 game for attempting to smash someone in the face with a helmet

Actually, suspended for 2 preseason games and 1 regular season game.

Here's video:

Now, putting aside the ridiculousness of the NFL both testing players for marijuana as well as suspending players for marijuana, my question is this:

If Von gets suspended today, do preseason games count?

suspended for 2 preseason games, who cares? That's like giving the guy a free vacation.

The NFL, teams, etc approach preseason games like this. They only count when talking about the money they bring in.

That's what I'm saying.. which is why i'm hoping that Von is able to include some of the preseason as well.

Obviously on the same drugs Von is on. 6 games plus 2 for the helmet hammer.

I remember getting suspended in Middle School on the last day before summer vacation.

It was like tacking on an extra day of summer

The administration really disliked the kid I got in a fight with

The suspension begins AFTER pre-season.

Clearly what Von did was 6 times worse than that.

He should have gotten a bonus of 50.000 the guy he was swinging at was Richie Incognito who is by a wide margin the dirtiest piece of **** in the league.

I guess it doesn't technically count as helmet to helmet contact. On the other hand he clearly led with the helmet, just not his own. I don't know if one game is sufficient.

Oh yeah, and the whole assault thing but who cares about that ****?

The six games are not discretionary - suspensions under the performance enhancing drug and substance abuse policies are set out in the CBA and not something Goodell has any authority to change.

Shhhhhhh. We need to continue to scapegoat the pre-existing villain.

But he does have the authority to change. How else was he able to bypass 4 games to 6 games? He tried to suspend him for the year but was unsuccessful.

Marty McSorley wishes the NHL looked at assault on the field the same way as the NFL in this case.

There is something horribly wrong with the rules of a league when assaulting someone is considered one sixth as bad as pissing hot for recreational drugs or having a screwed up piss test that may or may not have been intentional. That's all I'm saying.

Seriously, in my world hitting someone in the face with an improvised weapon is a much bigger deal than anything Von has done.

I'm totally aware. The irony isn't lost, however.

Now if we talking about ripping his helmet off and sticking a joint in his beak then the hammer should come down for the season.
