I haven't been too impressed with Bradley, this sounds like a quick, decent tackling LB lineup.

I'm curious and excited to see how they do.

I have seen it referenced several times in the mainstream media. Hurt his wrist in the game on Saturday.

I'm pretty nonplussed about this. Moving a weakside linebacker to the middle seems like a recipe for being soft in the middle. I like Woodyard on the weakside, but this seems like a desperation move to me, not a confidence one.

Still baffles me why we didn't go for a real MLB during the offseason. It was a clear need during the end of last season.

Bring back Al Wilson for a look, he could bust off 2K (tackles) in this system.

I like the idea of having Danny T and Wood on the field at the same time. Don't see how Wood can be worse than the guys Denver's been running out there since Al left. Especially behind those massive DTs

I actually like this arrangement. Trevathan and WW are our best coverage LBs. Wonder what happens after Von comes back though.
That's a big switch up. At least we will have the best 3 linebackers on the field. I guess Phillips is going to move down to DE.

Hmmm...
MLB only played 35% of the snaps last year because Brooking went off when the nickle came on. If Woodyard moves to Middle than the MLB will play in 85% of the snaps. Its all semantics really. The position isn't unimportant, it all depends on who is playing it.

Now the Will position is the unimportant one...

Odd timing, surely doing this in camp might have made more sense?

According to PFF, Denver ran Nickel/Dime/Quarter defenses 62% of all snaps last year.

Hopefully our beefed up frontline will take some pressure off the MLB in our defense to run around and make plays during the plays where we need 3 LBs.

It was Bradley's injury. Does this happen if Bradley is healthy? Doubt it.

This basically puts us in a quasi-nickel defense on running downs. It will be a big advantage when teams are running the no-huddle, and passing the ball. It's going to hurt us when teams are hitting us with the power running game. Trevathan is playmaker though. It will be good to see him on the field more often.

They ran that cause most the time they had sizeable leads forcing the other teams to pass more. That percentage drops if they aren't leading in games.

He's actually played better at the SAM then he did MLB. I like that move. I think Woodyard can do it. And if he's a natural there, I can see him bulking up 10 pounds for next season.

I'd put Trevathan at MLB just because of his size and attitude, but he's probably not ready.

Agree. Hard to feel sorry for the staff on this one. MLB was a glaring area of need.

So we lost 5 starters for varying periods of time because Pete Carroll wanted to make a statement in the 2nd pre season game.

I don't think thats fair. At the time, they clearly wanted to give irving a chance and got Bradley to compete. I assume they couldn't necessarily forsee that one would get hurt and Von would be suspended till the end of time.

Honestly... I like this move.

Wood has been the QB of our D for a while now.

He and Danny are 10-7lb lighter than Willis in SF. Same height.
