Default Five Thoughts as Camp Concludes

1. Wes Welker changes the entire offensive dynamic.
2. Duke Ihenacho will be a factor on defense.
3. The smoke has cleared only a bit in some of the most heated competitions.
4. Pass-rushing from the edge beyond Von Miller: Quanterus Smith is still the future, but others will define the present.
5. The Broncos didn't dodge all bullets.

My biggest questions

1. Can D get off the field or will it give up too many long drives
2. Can we rush the passer good enough
3. Can running game be alot better this year
4. Can we stay pretty heathy

I thought this too, then realized we won a preseason game 10 to 6 where the defense provided the winning points.

My 5 are...

1. Can the stars stay healthy?
2. We do not need an all world run game, but enough to keep the pressure off.
3. Health of the offensive line.
4. Von
5. January is oh so far away.

It's a long season and there will be ups and downs. But I fully expect to see this team in the playoffs and I hope they take advantage of the opportunity this time around.

I actually expect a bit of a step back. 11-5 or 10-6.

I also expect to win the superbowl from the 4th seed.

There is absolutely no doubt, barring injury to Peyton Manning and no other, that this team is going to the playoffs. There is no doubt that this team is capable of winning a championship. But none of that really matters. It's all going to come down to a handful of crucial plays in handful of crucial games. It would be great to get the number 1 seed but we don't necessarily need it. That's why this Von stuff is completely ridiculous. Unless he's suspended for the playoffs it really doesn't matter. Sure, we all want him to make a run at the sack record but in the grand scheme of things who really cares.

Camp is over, but pre-season is just starting. Big Al says Broncos have 20 pre-season games and I'm inclined to agree.

I agree. Seems like teams that make Superbowl runs, have a generally heathy team, and a few lucky bounces never hurts.

Can the secondary prevent big plays?

Can the running game burn the clock at the end of games?

Can all the receiving weapons mesh and stay happy with a decrease in balls coming their way?

5. We have new players at defensive tackle, middle linebacker, and probably one of the safety spots. Can the defense continue to be stout up the middle? Teams always want to run it, play ball control, and keep #18 off the field. It was arguably the primary Achilles heel that kept him to only one ring in Indy.

4. Can we convert the short yardage situations that bit us in the butt last year? Ball and Vasquez should help, but center is a real concern if Kuper or Lilja can't fill the spot. Ramirez is turrible.

3. Can Manning play with the eye of the tiger in the playoffs? He hasn't consistently, and it's the one blemish on his career.

2. Will John Fox pull his head out and coach to win in January this time?

And of course. . .

1. Will we have the right guys healthy at the right time? Do we have the depth to overcome some inevitable injuries? Can we roll into the playoffs with momentum?
