I'll take this as a way of them saying that CJ will get some chances with the ones sometime in preseason.

I'm not ready to proclaim him a star, but there was something very natural about the way he ran. Not to mention, dudes a load.

I take that to mean that he's the current #4 RB and has a chance to solidify a roster spot. He's not gonna leapfrog all three of our current top guys and start.

CJ Anderson looked huge at camp. I was surprised at how big a dude he is

Barring injury, the 2013 RB's will be:

Ronnie Hillman
Monte Ball
Knowshon Moreno
Jacob Hester
Lance Ball
I keep hearing great things about Hillman yet every time I watch he just sucks. Moreno was a much better runner than Hillman and Ball in the first game and CJ was right behind or better than Moreno. Ball just needs reps to figure the speed of the NFL out. Hester and Ball should be gone.

Moreno
Ball
CJ
Hillman

Who is a more viable option than glyn milburn. As is montee ball. I'm not saying CJ couldn't vault himself with great play, but it'll be a harder road than TD

Because the three in front of him are so great? Montee is the only unknown. Hillman and Moreno are terrible.

Yeah I feel like I watched a different game than everyone else
I thought Hillman looked fine

He wasnt Peterson out there, but with a makeshift line up against the best front 7 in the NFL I was not expecting much success running the ball

Montee was meh
Moreno is the same, he is solid but nothing special

4th stringers or not, Anderson was showing way more vision and burst than L Ball running behind the same Oline

Seattle is another good test, stout front 7 and physical D
If Anderson shines again and Ball looks meh again then Anderson should definitely get reps with the ones

I'll agree with that. And, to be honest, I think the idea of CJ being the next TD is pie in the sky stuff. It would be nice, but the chances of it are incredibly slim

Hillman is still an unknown and KM is nowhere near terrible

Yeah, they despise him so much that they took him off the inactive list to name him the starter when McGahee got hurt......

I do not see the need for this team to carry Hester. If anything they can cut him and call him back should the need arise. It is not like Hester is likely to get picked up.

I would keep Hillman, M. Ball, CJ Anderson then either KM or Hester depending on who they want to keep. It is also likely that they could keep 5 RB's (no FB's as Hester is listed as an RB) then keep KM inactive until they need him again.

Remember KM is playing out his contract this year, he is not going to get a monster new deal, they can cut him and develop a younger RB with more pop and upside or keep him around but inactive for insurance.

It will be fun to see if CJ can keep it up this PS, I have heard good things about him in TC and we need someone to win some RB jobs, not lose them.

He had a big gainer inside with great vision and explosion to daylight and he was able to motor around and get to the outside (something KM hasn't done well recently) and pick up another big gainer.

JJ has been replaced by CJ as the RB I am rooting for to make the team.

Lance Ball should be thinking about life after football.

Really? TD wasn't even camp fodder. He wasn't getting reps on offense in the preseason. He just got lucky on one random kick return tackle and got notice. He doesn't make that monster tackle, he doesn't make the team.

TD was a fluke. CJ is at least getting some form of notice through camp and the first preseason game.

We must have had some pretty crappy coaches.

not sure how correct your post is. I'm not going to pretend to remember the media's camp reports from the mid 90s, but the staff thought enough to use a pick on TD whereas Anderson is a UDFA. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion TD would have just been cut had he not made that hit against SF.

Would TD have been the player he was without the ZBS with Gibbs & Bobby Turner?

Shanny himself said it was that hit that caught the eye of the coaches before that he was buried in the depth chart and getting almost reps. He had been injured coming out of Georgia and was being over looked. Almost positive Shanny said TD was going to be among the next wave of cuts had it not been for that hit on ST
