I think he knows ST duties will be vital for him making the roster. Lets hope he can do it.

I guess they were drafted high and make more bread but I wasn't impressed with them at all. I don't think Hillman or Moreno is worth a shyt, to be honest.
Because John Fox is the HC and it takes alot to uproot a starter. M Ball hasn't done anything but hillman and Moreno have played in his offense. Don't get me wrong I've been waiting for an RB that runs north south and can see the lanes and doesn't stop moving his legs after contact. I just think Fox needs to see more than what we see for him to change a starter at a skilled position. If he shows those traits in all 4 games it would be hard for him not to be considered though.

These three running backs will be on the team

Moreno
M Ball
R Hillman

So after that it gets very easy to figure out.

Yeah. And unless Anderson goes completely HAM the entire preseason, he's probably going to stay 4th on the depth chart. Moreno is probably going to have to be active all season just because of his blocking and receiving ability. With our line injuries, I seriously doubt we're going to go into week one with a 190 pound 2nd year back, a rookie, and a rookie as depth and deactivated Moreno in street clothes.

I'm not so sure about Moreno, especially CJ continues to do well in preseason. The thing is, if CJ does do well in the preseason games then all the other teams are gonna know it and he will never make the practice squad.

Not saying he will be the starter
But I think he deserves to challenge the other RBs

Gotta love his 6.3 YPC as a senior at Cal.

Hope he doesn't earn too many looks though as it seems unlikely he makes the 53 and with too good a showing, he won't clear waivers.

If he sustains this level of play he'll make the 53. We'll roll with 4 backs

Hillman
M. Ball
Moreno
C.J.

Hester and Lance Ball get cut. In goal line situations you can plug in someone like Dressen at FB/H-Back.

Nope, wrong

Also, Hester will likely be kept as FB, so that's 5ish RBs

Plus, I've seen CJ play fullback in camp.

A roster spot strictly for a fullback is largely unnecessary in this offense. In the rare instances where one is needed in power football situations you could easily insert Dressen or even a Mitch Unrein at FB for a play.

I like this option.

If he can develop into an effective FB for very limited use, that could be justification for keeping a better runner than Hester. Problem is everyone hails Hester's supreme versatility even though he can't run.

There's no way that the Broncos keep 4 RBs and a FB. Not with all the talent on this team.

Maybe so, but one of those RBs will definitely be Moreno

I know CJ won't clear waivers if he lights it up in preseason...

If he continues to play like he played last night he isn't going to be cut. Trust me on that.

As long as he's the best pass protector at the position you may be right, but CJ and Ball both have the strength to close the gap there pretty quick. I think it's silly to take Moreno's spot for granted. This coaching staff has shown over and over that they don't really like the guy that much.

Watching it now as I DVR'd the 1AM re-airing of it on NFL Network and CJ was fun to watch. Definitely reminded me of what we were used to in the 90's.

Maybe we can trade Moreno (+ a draft pick) for an O Lineman.

or did I just kick a hornets nest?
