The Cardinals finally break out of their slump and spank the Pirates, 13-0.

Hogan, come on back here and talk about your Pirates.

Monday appears to be the deadline for Alex Rodriguez and 13 others to accept suspensions for their ties to the Biogenesis of America anti-aging clinic. While A-Rod is expected to get a lengthy ban, a penalty starting that day would allow Texas All-Star outfielder Nelson Cruz to return for October.

Major League Baseball is prepared to issue two simultaneous announcements no later than Monday, a person familiar with the process told The Associated Press on Thursday. One would list players who accept suspensions; the other would name those disciplined without deals, but who could challenge penalties before an arbitrator.

Alex Rodriguez - 3B - Yankees

The Rangers will still be on the hook for roughly $40 million in deferred payments to Alex Rodriguez if the slugger is banished for life.
The Yankees stand to save almost $100 million if A-Rod is banned from baseball, but Texas wouldn't be so fortunate. The deferred payments, scheduled to be paid from 2016-2025, will inflate to nearly $50 million by the time the debt is paid.

ouch!

That would be huge for the Yankees. It would put them below the luxury tax threshhold and they could crush in FA.

that requires them to have top FA's the sign and their main needs are pitching. which almost every top tier guy has been re-signed by his club, Hamels,Kershaw,Verlander,Hernandez.

Garza and Johnson are the best available in 2014, i doubt Texas lets Garza walk. Scherzer? maybe but i can't imagine the Yanks will pay the contract he'll land.

The Tigers swept the White Sox on a walk off single by Torii Hunter in the bottom of the 12 inning.

The Tigers have won 12 out of their last 13 games....and they've needed to, as the Tribe has won 10 out of their last 11 games and Kansas City has won 11 out of their last 12 games.

Detroit and Cleveland start a 4 game series tonight in Cleveland.

Detroit is up 3 games in the division and both teams have been on a roll lately.

Detroit has won 8 straight and 12 of their last 13 games and Cleveland has won 10 of their last 11 games.

Looks like Jhonny Peralta, SS, Tigers accepted his 50 game suspension and is effectively suspended for the rest of the season....smart move by Dave Dombrowski trading for Jose Iglesias for this season and into the future, as Peralta is a free agent after this season and isn't expected to be re-signed by the Tigers.

Peralta was having a nice season for the Tigers with a .305 average, 29 doubles, 11 HRs, and 54 RBIs.

Thanks....that's a very good read.

Dave Dombrowski is the perfect GM for the Tigers.

If you look at all the names, something tells me the latin players don't understand that PEDs will get you better but also get you suspended.

A-Rod officially suspended through the 2014 season, however he will appeal and can play until his his appeal is heard.

For those wondering why his punishment is so severe compared with the others named, this article provides a lot of details:

I'm no A-Rod apologist, but I think he's got a right to fight this suspension, as he's kind of getting the shaft.

If Ryan Braun only got 60+ games, there's no way A-Rod deserves almost a year and a half.
