I have old training stuff I think if you wanted some guides. Granted it changes a little each year, but my licenses were issued 3 years ago

I don't have any of the materials anymore or I'd help you out.

The 6 has more study materials but the 63 was harder. It's easy to take the 63 for granted because there are less materials than the 6.

while the 6 is not super hard, it is easy to flunk if you dont take it seriously. i would recommend taking the classroom crash course, if your company would pay for it. it is worth it.

I was 10 years ago. If I managed to pass while still living with my college roommates acting like we were still in college then anyone can.

My bro passed the 6, 63, and 7 all within the last year. Lots of studying, does not seem like a fun time

Anyway, congrats OP!

Congrats!

Just wondering because I have been in the securites business for about 28 yrs now. You say you are going to be crossed-trained. Please elaborate. What are you doing now? And how will your job change now that you are licensed.

The series 6 allows you to give investment advice and offer securities products. Legally, you were not allowed to do that prior. It's more responsibility so you should either get a raise of some sorts, or you may get a commission kicker for each new product sold; but that's up to your employer.

Good luck, it's a great business if you are with a good company and you are condusive to sales.

That's what turned me off to sales.

I'm still trying to go the CFA route, but having those licenses can't hurt, right?

You are right, the securities licenses won't hurt, but unnecessary if you will not deal with the public in any way. What do you do now, and how will the CFA help you?

I thought I wanted the CFA a few years back when I got a wild hair and thought I wanted to work for a mutual fund company as a hotshot securities analyst or manager.

Luckily, I got it out of my system and dropped the idea, as apparently I am the opposite of you and ludo21. I hate the corporate scene, and just love being paid exactly for my production, not to mention the freedom of coming and going when I want.

Anyway, as long as you love your work, it doesn't matter if you are salary or commission.
