Funny you used the word Sniff to describe your SB appearance. I picture Butt-pirate fans sitting around huffing paint and sniffing glue, apparently this is more accurate than I initially thought!

McKenzie has failed to impress. Yes, he took over a train wreck but still, the faiders are worse off now then they were 2 years ago. The only thing I'll give McKenzie credit for is letting players go and in return getting supplemental picks, he at least got a few more picks from which to build the team. His drafts have been pretty meh so far.

Now he's traded for another scrub QB. Why? McKenzie should have told the coaching staff to build the offense around Carson Palmer and then draft a QB high in 2014. Mean time, build up the defense.

A monkey could do better than your front office.

This is not a valid criticism of McKenzie. First off, he's had one draft, not drafts. Second, he didn't pick until selection 95 last year. Of course that draft is going to be meh.

He finds a backup RB who averages a 2.8 YPC after blowing out his knee? Smith is a scrub. Must be trying to fill out the roster for TC?

They dont have much cap room so they are signing a lot of 1 year split contracts and "prove it" type deals.... if a few of these guys pan out, it will be like an NBA situation where we can offer them the most money to re sign
Reggie Smith and running back Rashad Jennings – . Smith signed for one-year on a $715,000, split salary with no bonus. Jennings salary is also a one-year deal with a split salary. Jennings contract is worth only $630,000, however.

In signing “split contracts,” McKenzie has essentially taken out insurance on Smith and Jennings. Split contracts are commonly signed by players with a long history of injuries, something that neither Smith nor Jennings really have. Sure, both have missed time — even full seasons — but those injuries were anomalies in otherwise healthy careers. In effect, split contracts become guaranteed on a week to week basis. For every week the player stays healthy, they receive 1/16th of their salary. In Smith’s case, for every week he stays healthy and plays, he’ll earn $44,687.50. Jennings will earn $39,375. Should the player become injured, his contract is essentially voided without penalty to the salary cap.
We weren't able to carry CP at his current number, and he wouldnt redo his deal ala Vick, so he did the best he could with him.. I was supprised he managed to get anything for him since it was common knowledge he was going to be cut.

As far as trading for Flynn... you needed to obtain a QB somehow, since there was only 1 on the roster, and you don't want to be locked into Geno Smith IMO.. the QB crop is infinitely superior next year.

You mean they chose not to carry CP at his current number just like the Broncos chose not to carry Doom at his current number. It's a choice. McKenzie could have bit the bullet, paid CP and insisted the offense be designed around CP and the best RB in the NFL IMHO, McFadden.

Choices.

More Raiders being Raiders:

A former Oakland Raiders assistant coach is facing up to four years in state prison after being convicted of striking a man with a beer bottle outside a California bar.

"Earlier today, I informed Mark Davis of my decision to leave the Raiders," she said in an email statement. "Having honored a commitment that I made to effectuate a smooth transition and transfer of control, I no longer wish to remain with the organization. For over a quarter of a century, it was my honor and my privilege to work for the Raiders. I will forever appreciate the opportunity afforded me by Al Davis."

I think it's still too early to judge McKenzie. He didn't have a draft last year and just had an opportunity to get talent this year.

It looks like they are doing a complete rebuild and getting rid of everyone.

I liked some of the prospects they drafted like Hayden (hard not to root for the kid after what happened), Wilson and Watson.

It's definitely full rebuild with them. I just hope they don't get a shot at Clowney or Bridgewater. That would b e bad.

Dennis Allen took the position before he was ready. He was a position coach for a few years and a coordinator for one.

A lot less trash talk from the Oakland peanut gallery this year compared to last.

And he took a team with zero talent that was hamstrung with a bad trade for a bad quarterback.

That Palmer trade set them back a couple years.

Thinking that Pryor, a supplemental draft pick would develop into a starting QB was another reach.

Raiders lack of decent level drafts are the reason they are going to be fighting the Jag's for the 1st overall pick next year.

The Raiders barely resemble an NFL team

Cut like half their starters from a year ago, and have something crazy like 40M in dead money

I really don't think the GM is doing Allen any favors either. How can anyone really know if Allen is a bad HC if he's got next to zero talent to work with? I guess we can say "well, he should still get more wins because if he was a good coach he'd make them better than they really are, that is, coach them up...." Perhaps, but it's hard to know if Allen is the problem or the talent is the problem or both.

I know I don't like what Allen did with Palmer. I think trying to turn Palmer into a dink and dunk QB was absolutely the dumbest thing to do. Palmer is a long ball QB and his strength is stretching the field. All the faiders really had to do is make sure Palmer got decent protection.

Meh, it's a crap organization that continues to make crap decisions.
