The Denver Post reports Von Miller's four-game suspension is for testing positive for amphetamines and marijuana during his rookie season in 2011.
Miller entered the league with a positive marijuana test already on his resume, so the rookie-year violation was his second of the sort and necessitated a four-game ban. A third offense would knock Miller out for an entire season. Why the NFL took so long to suspend Miller is unclear, but it's believed he'll have a "hard" time winning his current appeal. The Broncos need to prepare to be without Miller until Week 5. Their fantasy defense takes an obvious blow, as aging replacement Shaun Phillips is a sizable downgrade.
Are they saying because it was two different drugs it is two violations in one year?

His rookie violation was strike one. This isn't for that he tested positive again

Holy **** dude, read the beginning of the first sentence you just bolded.

Ninety percent of the posts in this thread are panicked assumptions, unfounded predictions and stupid questions.

Wait. A test from 2011? No way he gets a 4 game out of this. Ben Roth got a 4 game after his bathroom escapades.

This is going to turn out to be the biggest non-story of the year. Maybe he gets suspended for the Baltimore game.

but he wasn't in the NFL so how can that be a first violation? He entered the league with a one strike against him, so that is strike 1. So what is strike 2?

According to NFL source, #Broncos LB Von Miller tested positive for amphetamines and marijuana during his rookie season of 2011.
So he is a dumbass dope head. Well that is just great.

I'm pretty sure it clearly says he entered the league with one strike. Then it says he got another strike during his rookie year. That makes two. I'll read it again just to be sure.

How can the NFL penalize a player for a drug violation when he's not in the NFL?

I wonder why they've waited so long to enforce the second violation??

So he smoked some weed before he was an NFL player and then his rookie year got popped for weed and probably a little bit of ecstasy. Nothing since 2011.

The world is not coming to an end. He's not a drug addict. He's still going to have a 20 sack season. Put down the puppy.

He tested positive twice with tens of millions of dollars on the line. So the first positive test was not enough to encourage him to stay clean. Is that not a sign of an addiction?

Let's see, 15-20 million per year or get high? Tough question.

Because there is no first violation IMHO. I don't give a ratz azz if Von smoked weed in college and got caught doing so. The NFL can't penalize him for that. But since he was dumb and got caught his rookie year, they are now saying he has 2 strikes?

Sounds like Von should invite Tamba and Houston to Denver and toke up since they are all regulars.

He's still going to get a gigantic 40 million guaranteed 2nd contract. If not by the Broncos, then another team.

Addicted to pot based on a pre-NFL drug test and one in 2011. This board never fails to deliver the lolerz in times of "crisis."
