Who reads RSM anyway? I stopped reading that crapfest when I was in HS because I could not swallow most of it's music criticisims. Research what Rolling Stone Magazine first thought of Led Zeppelin and you will understand it's ability to comprehend good music.

Pure tripe.
Their music criticisms do suck - hard. According to Rolling Stone, 6 out of the top 10 albums of all time were by the Beatles or Bob Dylan - reflecting the fact that Rolling Stone is still all about one guy (Jann Wenner) who is stuck in one era and with limited tastes.

yah, I haven't read RSM since the 500's or so. A perfect example is clicking on the 550-599 edition section and looking at some of those covers. They have the old Rolling Stones (way past their prime, living off the music they created back in the 1970s) right next to another almost past-their-prime band in the B-52s. The B-52s formed back in the late 1970s and did most of their music in the 1980s with their album Cosmic Thing coming out in like 1989. They were basically living off fumes by the early 1990s and yet RSM finally, finally put them on the cover of their magazine in the year 1990. Why did RSM wait so long to acknowledge this band?

I can site other bands all but ignored by RSM (The Pixies anyone?) as this so called "music" magazine shoveled out crap like big hair bands and pop culture rubbish.

So what, he was a good looking kid, probably very intelligent, who suprsisingly blew up people in Boston, and I have heard the article details how he was justifying the 9/11 attack in High School, and trasitoned to radicalized Islam.....

Its a fascinating story, people probably want a glimpse inside that kids head...and how he could become so evil, killing people are completely innocent of any crime or infraction of his beliefs...

I have no issue with the article, and if people don't like it, they can chose not to buy it.

Yah, don't go to RSM for political or social commentary. And, don't go to RSM for music commentary either. In fact, don't go to RSM for anything other than fire kindling.

Here is a band that Rolling Stone Magazine ignored, and if RSM wanted to highlight a band who was cutting edge and set the trend for a whole new genre of Rock n Roll, then they should have put this band on it's cover instead of Charles Manson:

lol, no but he was featured in a article in FWW, he has a process for flattening big wood slabs for table tops with a router....

I loved him in Parks and Rec, and when I found out he was actually an avid fellow woodworker in real life, I got as gay for him as you are for strong black men, coffee, and extra shots in the mouth.

He has a shop in LA, when I am back in Souother CA to see my family I might drive up an see if I can find out where the shop is... I love to chat him up about woodworking.

I am thoroughly fake outraged about this. Loud Noises.

I think the last time I read a Rolling Stone was on a airplane in 1997.

B-Large hit the nail on the head though. The radicalization of a popular, good looking, Westernized kid is what makes the story interesting. Many of us stereotype Islamic extremism into sort of a characterture of the "dirka dirka" shouting bearded guy with an AK-47. The idea behind the cover is to highlight a juxtaposition of that stereotype using the Boston bombing as an example.

Don't like it, don't read it.

Actually, Matt Taibbi does some really good work. I don't read the magazine (other than occasionally picking it up at the barber shop when there's nothing else to read) but have read several of his articles online.

FTR, I've never read RS magazine....but if I did, I would certainly cancel a membership now. That's how you hit them.....then advertisers pull out.....eventually, they'll go out of business.
