i'm curious to see the end results of this negotiation. 5 years 52.5 mil with more than 50% guaranteed was the last reported number.

my guess would be 6 years, 63 mil 34.6 mil guaranteed.
bonus structured to where the cap hit is between 9.5 and 10.5 per year.

not necessarily. context matters. if Hillman had been able to grind out some tough yards at the end of the game keeping Denver from facing a 4th down and eventually giving the ball back to Balt, those would qualify. as would a key run on a scoring drive. but those things didn't happen. and he didn't have any big yardage plays.

He was a whole 1-4 in that game in runs where all they needed was one or two yards for a first down.

Sorry. Moreno is the better RB right now. By far.

Better blocker.
Better receiver.
Better at moving the chains.
Better scorer.
Hell, he's even better at getting bigger chunks of yards and that's supposed to be Hillman's strength, if anything.

If Moreno could simply stay healthy, Hillman wouldn't even have any NFL touches on his resume.

Call me when Hillman does anything that 90% of the RBs in the league can't do.

Maybe. But I'm thinking that if they thought Hillman could be their #1 they probably don't use a 2nd rounder on the position.

I saw more times of failed runs by all the RBs last year when all that was needed was 1 dam yard than I did big runs

I only know of a couple guys in the history of the NFL who could have picked up over 20 yards on 5 straight runs at the end of a playoff game against that Ravens team.

Since Hillman was the youngest player in the NFL, and had already had about 20 touches prior (in only 3 quarters), I'll choose to focus on the good things that he did in that game. Not to mention that it was (by far) the most touches he had all season.

Like I said, I'm looking forward to seeing how he performs this year, and I like what I saw out of him in the playoffs. In fact, I expect Hillman to average over 4.0 ypc in 2013 with 150+ touches. There were only 20 guys in the entire NFL who did that in 2012. It would be a nice goal for the 21 year old.

Hillman ran the ball better than Knowshon did against the Ravens, that's not even disputable.

I like Knowshon too, but he's 3rd string right now, and was deactivated for the majority of 2012. I don't really see that changing in 2013, seeing how the Broncos have spent two high draft picks on RB's in the last 2 years.

Call me when Knowshon is on the active roster again.

@MikeKlis

Those fax machines ready? #Broncos and LT Ryan Clady are close to

reaching accord on a 5-year agreement. Deal would put Clady among the top 3 highest-paid offensive linemen. Both sides reached common ground through compromise -- Broncos dramatically increased guarantee while Clady significantly reduced total value request.

Broncos reportedly increase their offer to franchised left tackle Ryan Clady

The Denver Broncos and franchised left tackle Ryan Clady have until 4 p.m. ET on Monday, July 15 to reach agreement on a multi-year contract. With the deadline approaching, the Broncos have increased their offer, John Clayton of ESPN.com reports.
According to Clayton, the Broncos have been offering Clady a five-year contract worth $50 million, but have increased their offer to $52.5 million and are willing to guarantee "significantly more" than 50 percent of the deal. Albert Breer of the NFL Network has reported that the Broncos' offer includes $33 million in guaranteed money over the first three seasons of the deal.
If Clady does not accept the Broncos' offer by Monday's deadline, he will likely play out the season under the one-year franchise tag worth $9.828 million in fully guaranteed base salary. Clady earned over just over $17 million in his five-year rookie contract, including $3.5 million in base salary in 2012.
The $10 million per year average that the Broncos are reportedly offering is equal to what the New York Jets paid left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson in a six-year, $60 million extension on July 8, 2010. However, the Broncos' offer is below a more recent extension signed by Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas, who received $11.5 million per season in a seven-year, $80.5 million extension that was signed on Aug. 22, 2011. Ferguson and Thomas were both 26-years-old when they signed their extensions, the same age Clady is right now.

That's some serious bank. I'm guessing this contract stipulates that he's not even allowed to WATCH basketball on tv.

If Hillman had been as impressive as you are leading on, I think there would be quite a few posters who would have agreed with you. As it is, I think most of us see a pedestrian day. A 4 yard-per-touch clip and no definitive or memorable runs. Nothing in crunch time when Denver really needed it. Meh. Denver needed more from the running game that day and no one on the rooster provided it.

Not quite broski, I said, "Hillman had some big runs" in that game. I remember a few. You might not. Fox is the one who said Hillman's performance was impressive, not me.

I've just been trying to prove to you that he did indeed have some big, memorable runs, to no avail. Oh well.
