Wait. Say we're talking about a new Batman movie. You're saying there's no value in an idea (like a script by a famous director that studios have to pay thousand/millions just for the rights to). And you consider your torrenting the file and burning it to a disc the actual "creation", not the hard work of hundreds of actors, special effects animators, set designers, cinematographers who actually spend months filming and making the movie?

That actual making the movie does not equal "the creation" but you burning it to a disc is? As in you're the one doing the real work so they aren't owed anything, you are? Are you trolling?

I invision chadta smiling as he downloads an album, nodding to himself as he listens.

"Oh chadta, you devil, you've created another masterpiece! The mind that came up with the lyrics, the chord structure, the production; the people who paid for the studio time and came together with their musical talent to record—of zero value. No, chadta, is you who took the real creative initiative and copied it off the internet. That's where the real value lies. They should be paying you!"

I would guess that he has tried to score by telling women that he is responsible for Unchained Melody.

That's the truth. I'm amazed at how many bad movies get made. Open the Redbox site and scan what's available and it's 95% crap.

edit: so this has been covered i guess

either way, not that hard of a concept to understand. the same reason why the broncos/nfl are very sensitive to anyone trying to rip off their likeness. they don't take to kindly to all that.

That is why I am such a big fan of Netflix. You can take your time and sift thru the crap, and really find some gems. By way of Netflix, I have literally seen hundreds of movies that I probably wouldn't have seen otherwise.

There may, or may not, be an implosion as Speilberg describes, but really the delivery will change.

Instead of going out to a movie, people will be able to play it on their own widescreen when released, for $25 or whatever, and provide their own popcorn & beer. The theaters may become obsolete, but not the film industry.

Look at it this way, VHS made creepy porn theaters a thing of the past, but the porn industry is bigger than ever.

I have concerts in my backyard too, and make a fortune off beer sales.

K maybe I took things a bit to far with that last post

His After Earth debacle I feel will be his last large budget disaster. He'll be lucky to direct Indie films now.

He's had exactly one good movie - every other one has been crap, and after each movie somehow this guy lands on his feet and gets another big blockbuster film to **** up. Why should it stop here?

You may be on to something here, as I did a little M Night research since his breakout hit -

Movie, followed by budget and worldwide gross in millions:

2012 - After Earth : 130/102 (to date)
2010 - The Last Airbender : 150/319
2008 - The Happening : 48/163
2006 - The Lady In The Water : 70/72
2004 - The Village : 60/256
2002 - Signs : 72/408
2000 - Unbreakable : 75/248
1999 - The Sixth Sense : 40/672

Budgets = 760mil
Gross = 2.24bil

(I'm mathematically challenged so my numbers could be screwy)

So though his movies have become exponentially unwatchable - as a whole they make money , with Lady In The Water, the break even (and perhaps After Earth, but who knows after worldwide BO numbers) being the only box office turkey.

So, unfortunately... " I see more ****tee movies"

Ultimate in Alien defense. I also liked how ambient humidity had no effect but one of these bad boys could apparently gun them all down.

People said the same thing after his previous movie.....

He'll get more chances but will not have the star power he had after his first few.

Lady in the water was a better movie than given credit for though.

No one that is so against downloading movies ever answered if they buy any knock off unlicensed bronco gear or sports gear. Would that be considered stealing even though you buy it? as its also often a copywrite infraction.

I've never bought any unlicensed gear from any of the random Asian sites posted here or from those random guys that sell tshirts or whatever outside the back of their cars during concerts or sporting events. Any official or replica stuff I've bought was purchased from either official team stores or chain sporting goods stores, which all pay the league/teams a cut.

And yes, I would consider that stealing even though you technically paid for it.

That would be fun to have an army with Supersoakers and going and wiping out aliens.

I rarely go to the movies. I'll just watch them on VuDu when available in the comfort of my own home.

I will go for movies I really am interested it. I went to Star Trek, and am taking the kiddo to Monsters University tonight.

Before Star Wars, it has probably been over a year since I went to the theater.
