I'm glad we haggled with Doom over 2m when we had 10.

Solid.

We could sign Charles Woodson instead of Jammer... oh... ooooooh...

I wager we should renegotiate some contracts though to front load them so we can afford our impending FA's over the next two years.

A double digit sack guy isn't worth it when you only have one other pass rusher in the whole front?

I'll make a little bet with you. On the honor system I bet you a ten dollar donation the the mane that we are better off without Doom. I we both think we miss him I pay, if neither of us feel we miss him you pay.

Besides Doom agreed to a contract but failed to find a fax machine. You don't think there was some BS going on. The Broncos were on the hook for 12 mil if there was no signed contract and Dooms agent says essentially, "The check is in the mail".

Miller is coming up. A must sign mega mega contract. I'd rather give the money to Miller than give it to Doom

Phillips will have as many sacks as Elvis did last year.

That's all fine and dandy but that doesn't mean Denver couldn't have had Doom this year. If they would have kept him on the team this year they still would have plenty of cap room, given more time they could have traded him this coming off-season and the cap hit would have been much less if they had waited.

It wasn't as much about money this year as possibly over the following 2 years. Broncos are well over the cap for next season with a glut of top free agents they'll want to bring back.

It wasn't like Elvis went out in FA and got a better deal than what Denver had originally offered him

He received a more than fair market value offer in Denver, a leadership role and what looks like a better shot at Lombardi. Elway had Elvis' league wide value spot on but Elvis didn't want to be here.

Had he done something worthwhile in the playoff game I'm sure he would have had more leverage with Denver during his negotiating period but
I'm not giving a guy an extra $2MM when half his sacks came on the 1st play or at /near the end of the game in garbage time.

That is besides the point. If Denver would have just left it be they still would have plenty of room under the cap and Doom would be on the team for this year. Then they could have traded him before next years draft or renegotiated his contract and the cap hit would have been less.

Denver is not a better team without Doom.

Agree, but they tried to keep Doom. His existing contract was way out of whack. Because of the snafu and his being butthurt he took a deal in Baltimore similar to what Denver was willing to pay. Just didn't work out.

Some of it will go to Koppen. Then, the rest of it will go to Williams and Clady!
