Now you're just arguing semantics. How many players have more than one article about them? Especially mid-round projects? Julius Thomas has, at the very least, been over-exposed if not purposely over-hyped. He even had a nickname "Orange Julius" before he won a starting position. The point is he's been over hyped since he was drafted.

The vast majority of his attention came from TC of 2011 where, from all reports, he was becoming an important weapon in the offense, correct? If he sucked then, they wouldn't have given him attention. Then, if i recall, there was an article about how he'd work with Peyton in the offseason of 2012 and how he called him "sir" or something. Then he got hurt and that was pretty much it. Maybe a few "what happened to JT" articles that preseason, but that was it.

This idea that he's been promised as the next great thing year after year after year is revisionist history.

Well, Orange Julius is too good to pass up as a nickname!

I also am in no way saying he'll be a star for the Broncos, I'm just saying this idea that he's a yearly tease is grossly exaggerated. It was one offseason, his rookie year.

Totally agree. But this is just one more thing that feeds the flames of unreasonable expectation.

while I understand a wait and see attitude about him, I find it laughable that people will dispute what the coaches and players themselves see in practice everyday......

Keep in mind the kid has battled injuries his first two seasons and while they're no Antonio Gates or Tony Gonzales, guys like Tamme and Dreesen are pretty decent TE's, so that too is a battle in itself....

Keep in mind DT and Decker battled injuries their first couple seasons too, as did Moreno and they all contributed big time for our 13-3 squad last season.....

I'll choose to remain positive and hope he stays healthy and contributes to our goal of winning the SB

Sorry we have OPs trying to spin hype on players. Just look at the title of this thread. All in caps to draw people in. Also no where in the article do they call Thomas an IMPRESSIVE weapon. Pot stirring OP's are the problem not the articles about Thomas showing promise.

Exactly...one season, seven articles evidently vs. "hundreds" and it happened during a time when former basketball players becoming pass catching TE's were all the rage.

As for a nickname...yeah Orange Julius should partner up with him. However if he does indeed turn out to be the next "______" (insert all-pro TE) perhaps he and Demaryius could be called "T-n-T"?

Wouldn't having unreasonable expectations be your problem, not his?

The kid has athletic ability, and the size that make scouts and coaches and QB's looking for red zone targets drool......if he stays healthy and performs he could become what some have hyped him to be.

I've learned with all these fluff bs articles in the offseason it is best to be pessimistic about it and be glad that one time you have to eat crow. There have been too many Devoes, Watts, Dukes, madise, Kaspersky, Fanin, etc.

Julius was actually one of the starting TEs in the 2 TE set coming out of camp in 2011 , started the Oakland game but was injured in Week 2.

Be nice to see him play for Denver and Manning . There is a reason why he hasn't been released yet. Too much damn potential and Elway didn't want to be the guy to cut JT and have him go on to play well for some other team.

Most likely it's this season to put up or shut up however

while every one else see this "hauled in a 50-yard TD pass from Peyton Manning"

I'd wager Welker would have more to do with Tamme being expendable than anything. And yes, I know...different positions.

Well, sure, anything can happen, but Tamme has been a solid NFL player and is a favorite of Manning's.

Didn't we like, have this exact same discussion 2 weeks ago when somebody else posted about what a great OTA JT was having? Seriously, let's give the JT articles from OTA's and TC a rest people. Save it.

Lay off dude. He's obviously exaggerating. But I'll back him up, as well as you can see from how many people have already posted that they see this same stuff every year, articles about JT and then he gets hurt and doesn't play. Go find them yourself if it's important to you to know the exact number of them.

The fact is, this happens every year. Are you trying to say it doesn't?

When it comes to TC every play that is good for one unit is bad for the other.

The 6-5, 255-pound former power forward is finally healthy after spending the bulk of his first two seasons with the Denver Broncos dealing with a bum right ankle.

Treating every practice like it's game day, Thomas is finally flashing the skills that made him an attractive prospect coming out of Portland State in 2011 even though he had played just one season of college football.

Last week, he outraced the safeties and hauled in a 50-yard TD pass from Peyton Manning. This week, he stretched out his long, lean body for a one-handed grab in the flat before weaving his way into the end zone.
Trying to remember the last TE that hasn't done this in the past 15 yrs.

Love our Defense, but it's like an every year thing.
