RT @RapSheet: #49ers WR Michael Crabtree suffered a torn Achilles yesterday, source says. Brutal. Could return this year

That's rough for them. Didn't Thomas tear his at a similar time before his second season? And he was able to come back halfway through

they badly need their speedy WR pick from last season and Patton to step up now.
Boldin is good but they need more than just him to make that offense go even with all the RB depth.

i seem to recall him tearing his closer to the end of the season. it was in february that he tore it that year. he came back but wasn't at his best when he returned. that is a huge blow to the 49ers

Achilles tears are actually not as big a deal as they used to be. But tearing it in May is pretty bad. It's six months+ so theoretically sometime around the playoffs he could be back.

While Thomas was "back" that season, he wasn't close to 100%. It seemed like it took quite some time to truly get healed up.

Thomas said today it took about 18 months to feel like 100%

Really good for Vernon Davis. They will have to use TE more now. Bad for Boldin because he needs someone to occupy the safetys so he can shake free with his physical style of play. If Boldin gets doubled you can stop him fairly easy IMO. Manningham a decent 3rd WR, maybe even a decent number 2 if you had a stud number 1. I just don't think Manningham/Boldin have enough speed deep to scare dbs.

Let me guess you have him in your dynasty league and this was your big year?
