Oh they had a choice. They could've not drafted a safety that high. It was typical Pioli retardation. Nothing more

Looks like that money isn't going to waste.

It doesn't matter who they drafted, they would still be paying 10 mill.

Here is a list of the next 10 players picked:

Russell Okung, Joe Haden, Rolando Mcclain, CJ Spiller, Tyson Alualu, Anthony Davis, Ryan Matthews, Brandon Graham, Earl Thomas.

Of that list of players, 3 are busts: Mcclain, Alualu and Graham. 2 are runningbacks who are not as good as Jamaal Charles: Matthews and Spiller. Okung is a good LT, but not a major upgrade over Albert or Fisher, Davis is a good RT. Haden is a good CB but I would hate paying him 10 million a year. That leaves the choice of Earl Thomas and Eric Berry, the 2 best players of that group, both safeties - so in fact they didn't really have much choice not to pick a safety.

I still find it a bit absurd that Champ is making $11M. Don't think he's worth that much at this point in his career.

Hali's cap number is ridiculous.

I'm down with giving Baliey anything until his cap figure starts to be a problem. Then he can restructure when it potentially becomes a problem next year.

Haha yeah Berry isn't a good player or anything.

Oh what a stupid and laughable opinion.

Meachem (bust) - $6.8m

McFadden - $9.6m
Huff - $7.2m
Janikowski - $5.1m
I don't have a problem with the KC contracts, at the time they were the right call and they're not in cap hell because of it. Of the other AFC West teams, they're most likely to pull themselves up out of the #@$ in the short/medium term future. They need better coaching.

The Chargers and the Raiders have had terrible management over the last 5 years and it shows through the cap mess they're in now. It will be difficult for either team to extricate themselves without pulling it all down and starting again.

Rivers would get that contract on the open market so you can't really fault them for that. Gates has been elite and Weddle isn't bad either.

McFadden - $9.6m, Huff - $7.2m, Janikowski - $5.1m: Those numbers are insane!

Also, Champ isn't worth $11 million at this point and I hope he takes a huge cut next year so we can free up the space, bring in fresh blood (or pay our upcoming contracts) and continue to build for the future. For this year pay the man! No point having the cap space just sitting there unused.

5.1 m for a kicker? 15.5 for Hali? 6.8 for Meachem?
damn, that is nuts.

i'd slap a certain tender on him but i wouldn't slap the tag on him. that's 9-10.5 mil for a WR. no way in hell we can afford that with the deals we have coming up and depending on how Clady's deal gets structured.
