Charles Woodson really wants to sign with a contender and he knows he'll have to sign on the cheap if he wants to keep playing.

Woodson would be a great add on to this team. He could play the matchup S/CB and cover or blitz out of the slot. A one year deal is all Denver needs to give him. He is a playmaker that is a HOF player that Denver could use.

I guess it really does depend on the price. Maybe that's why SF and others have looked to other options. I just think he's more of a liability which was shown last year, than he would be a rod Woodson type ending of a career. Rod switched to safety at the end and produced big time at 37. Charles is no rod though.

The big question:

At this point in his career, is he as fast as Hernandez/Gronkowski?

We'd have to cut Adams unless we want to give up on some of our youth, which would be silly. There's literally no reason to keep Adams around if we get Woodson. We're stacked at DB and have no room to add more without cutting someone. The people rambling about cutting Moore are idiots dwelling on one boneheaded retard play he made and ignoring what was a solid season and a monumental improvement over his rookie year. He is a starter for us.

CB

Champ
DRC
Harris
Carter
Bolden

CB/S

Webster
Woodson

S

Moore
Adams
Carter
Bruton

That's 11 DB's with Woodson.

In bold are our guaranteed starters going into the season based on the typical 2 CB 2 S setup. Obviously we play nickle a ton and starters can change.

^ Yeah, I'd take him over Adams.

Rahim is going nowhere.

Adams was just a stop-gap while Quinton develops... might as well have a better stop-gap.

Adams wasn't terrible last season and was already paid a roster bonus he was due (if he wasn't let go by then) upwards of $1.25 million in March/April. He is not going to get cut.

I hear ya, I don't know why so many dudes here have a problem with Tony Carter. OK, so yeah, lots of guys didn't step up in the playoff game. But I remember quite often all year he had awesome man coverage. He was pretty much like glue in man.

I would rather have TC over Adams.

Adams player pretty well last year. He did not miss many tackles, granted they were not pretty but he tackled his guy 95% of te time. His coverage is not great because he is over-matched physically on TEs.

Carter stepped his game up when Porter became non existent. I saw alot of good things but there were some bad. IMO I think he struggles against taller recievers.

The only thing Woodson can still do is blitz. I don't think a blitzing safety is our biggest priority right now.

The only reason why we would be sniffing around Woodson is if the team doubts/medical concerns over Quinton Carter's recovery.

I really hope that's not the case.

Isn't Woodson 40 years old?

If he chooses a Raiders team that would overachieve significantly by winning 4 games next season instead of us, he's welcome to them.

If this is the case, I would much prefer Quintin Mikell!

The Broncos should sign Woodson for two major reasons

1) Woodson would upgrade the secondary and add a much needed vocal leader to the defense.

2) The Broncos would be unstoppable in Madden 14.

I like Woodson, but do we need two hybrid DBs in Woodson and Webster, if our front office views Webster that way? But then again what will be Webster's role? Sure Woodson would be another great leader and mentor, but he would take a valuable roster spot.

If we are set at FS with Moore, and there are concerns about Carter long term and we use free agency, Mikell would be a great SS acquisition.

I'd be pretty shocked if he signed with the Raiders. Unless for some reason he simply wanted to retire a Raider.

My guess is that we'll sign him by the end of this week.

I don't claim to know where or how he'll fit into the scheme of things, I certainly wouldn't want to give up on Moore or Q Carter yet. I do think we got great value out of Lynch and Dawkins and I also think that our D is completely lacking in leadership. Champ is great, but he's more of a lead by example kinda guy. Both Dawkins and Lynch stepped up in that role and I think Woodson could as well.
