The "the difference when Koppen replaced Walter was AMAZING" myth on the OMane is maybe one of the worst ones.

My first choice is Kuper. Second choice is Blake. And yes, that's without seeing him play. Sometimes the unknown seems like the better option than the known.

Hey, fans wanted TT without having seen him play in a real game. Why not Blake?

None of the above. Hope that changes by week 5.

Walton will be fine. There is NO CHANCE IN HELL, they will move Kuper to C. They are not going to pay Kuper $6 million a year to be their center.

I'm not to confident in JD, but then again I don't know if Kuper or Blake could handle it either!

I dont like Walton, but he was the starter going in to the season so the coaches must see something in him

Magazu is the equivalent of Gibbs in the 90's. if the Broncos didnt target a center, they must be pretty comfortable with Walton's ability.

I think that they saw that they were in trouble, which is why they signed Koppen after week 1.

It was also the same time Mays went down IIRC...

If Blake looks any bit as worthless as he did in camp last year, Lord help us.

Why not? Center is the key position on the line next to LOT because they make the line calls. If he's worth $6 million to play guard he's worth more than that to play center and if you put the best 5 on the field, he's one of those guys. It makes more sense than him sitting on the bench for that money. I'm hoping the kid they got in the draft from Virginia Tech might be able to learn that spot too.

I think you're ignoring a lot to come to that conclusion. Walton's injury coincided almost exactly with a huge drop in the level of competition the Broncos faced, and I think it's pretty short-sighted to say that we started winning because Walton was replaced.

Yep, Walton improved markedly with real coaching, I'd like to see him continue to grow. He was a mauler in college, so I hope he can bring that to the Broncos finally....

I am pretty sure that they signed Koppen after Blake went on IR.

My write-in vote: Max Unger. He's the guy I was screaming at McDaniels to draft in the 10 minutes before they announced "Darcel McBath." Maybe I should've screamed louder.

Actually I voted Kuper. Do we know he can play center, or is this a fallback for Kuper-lovers like me now that we have two other starting guards?

The defense gave up 27, 31, and 31 in the Broncos three losses. Was Walton playing MLB and I didn't know it?

I just heard an interview with Franklin on the radio. He says that in these walkthroughs right now they have Manny Ramirez stepping in at starting center. I guess that we can add his name to the list of candidates to compete in camp.

Guards can (and also do) make line calls depending on the team. It's would ideally be the center, but that's not always the case. This is especially true in the modern NFL since the guards rarely have their "hands in the dirt."

Pretty much. Both Blake and Walton were healthy when Koppen was signed. Koppen was signed 9/11. Blake hurt his thumb in practice on 9/14, and placed on IR 9/18. Walton hurt ankle 9/30 and placed on IR 10/1.

They got Koppen pretty cheap, and I'm not sure his signing was necessarily indicative of a problem with Blake.
