Totally agree, good post. Another way to look at it is, our MLB, may or may not, be on the roster, but an impact DT and RB definitely is not.

Ya it's pretty clear they wanted Ball badly and after watching his tape it's easy to see why. He reminds me so much of TD it's scary.

Maybe he was a target because he presented good value, but wouldn't he be playing MLB?

Let me elaborate.. If Geno Smith was there @#58 do you take him just because he is good value? It has to be value meets need somewhere along the curve..

I never thought Denver would go after a MLB. We had enough holes to fill that the brass never said was fine. How many times was it posted on the Mane that Denver said they were set with Irving getting his shot this year... Imagine that, Elway and company were telling the truth.

The original report is purely speculation based on imaginary friends and hearing voices in his head, Peter King right

I think our spread out offense he will have more holes to run through and he won't dance like KM tends to do. This is the perfect O for Ball's skill st.

Why because Peter King reported it? Dude has been wrong before. Hell, he even said his sources told him that Cutler would end up staying even after the McD gaffe.

The Broncos biggest priorities going into the draft were DE and RB.

1. The way the 1st round fell, the BPA was Sylvester Williams so the Broncos picked him.
2. Then, they got on the horn immediately with Shaun Phillips to be RDE.
3. The pick at #58 was destined to be Montee Ball.

Yep. After all the media noise pre-draft, only two of the experts had us taking Sylvester Williams. Kiper had Carradine and McShay had Werner. The minute Doom left, they all fixated on DE. Mayock had Werner for us too.

Yes, I agree. I think we are saying the same thing though. In other words, RB trumps MLB as far as need, this year anyway.

I think the only SS that could have immediately upgraded Mike Adams in this draft is Kenny Vacarro.

The Broncos brought John Lynch to the combine, specifically to look at DB talent. I think they had TJ McDonald SS targeted in round 3 as a developmental SS, but he was taken.

None of the other SS in this draft have prototypical size to be able to guard TE's, so they passed.

No, I meant Trevathan.

Brown would have bumped Irving, but maybe/apparently they thought nobody else would have bumped Trevethan.

It's all speculation, but agreed.

If we had any interest in a MLB, which may or may not be true.. Then there has to be some apprehension with Irving as our MLB..

Another thing I'm curious of, is the announcement to put Mays on the trade block, that would deflect attention away from a team thinking we would take a MLB..

Just playing Devils Advocate here guys..

We passed on Ed Reed. We couldn't pass on Brown because he was taken before.

Nope... that just means we wanted to see if someone would throw us a 7th or future pick. Dude is going to get cut. Reason nobody took the bait.

If you go back to the Tebow days, you will notice the John, Fox and the FO where pretty straight up with everything. They have gone out and done everything they have always said up to now. No reason to not believe the reports that Irving is ready to take the next step. They said it since the start of this process. Same thing with the FS that everyone around here wants replaced. They are fully on board with the people they have the confidence in.

Do you really think anyone would offer a pick for someone on the trade block who will be released..?

Considering he didn't get much run behind Mays and Brooking, I'd have to agree. I wouldn't be surprised to see Stewart Bradley as the starter, which is not a good thing.

I hope you are correct. I've been a proponent of Irving for a while as I think he has the best instincts of all the LBers outside of Miller. He's got the physical ability to play the position at a high level. What we all question is why has it taken him so long? Why couldn't he beat out Mays? Perhaps he's just mentally struggling with his assignments.
