Elway announced Webster as a defensive back; he may end up gunning for Mike Adams spot

Only pick I didnt like was the Ball pick
Even though I know nothing about Webster, I can live with it due to his speed and toughness

Really liked what they did today with Smith, King, and Dysert

Solid value

It is funny that the Webster pick has been panned on here by pretty much the same people that wanted Reddick from the 3rd round on, and he went undrafted. So much for value and reaching. I'll stick with the pros, and their evaluations.

Apparently, Bill Belichick personally worked out this kid at South Florida, and the Bucs insider called the kid a steal. Not sure if this has been posted anywhere, but a good read for those interested.

It would be interesting to see how Webster does at safety. He might be a good combo back with his toughness and speed.

I'm hoping he can cover tight ends as it is such an Achilles Heal for us.

It happens every year and it shouldn't. This thread was as bad as a game- day thread, at times.

Anyway, thanks for the link, it was a good read, and helps us understand the Webster pick a lot better.

If he can, then it may explain why the FO didn't sniff a MLB.

I sure hope so because we are going to have to beat NE and their two stellar TEs to get the the SB.

Good read man thanks for posting. Holy crap......Webster had 82 tackles last season. Yeah, I think this guy tries out for the SS position.

Rarely pipe in on the mane these days (been a couple of years), however, this draft class was a good one. The broncos will make some money on their selections in 2013. Good luck to all this year. Talk to you much later.....dman

I mentioned that they might move William Campbell to the offensive line after the Jets drafted him.

Dude was a 5 star recruit at Michigan and never really did much....but he looks like a monster.

In high school he was actually a better offensive tackle than he was a defensive tackle.

I'm surprised Michigan didn't move him to the offensive line when they saw he wasn't going to have much of an impact on the defensive line. I thought I remember Michigan talking about possibly moving him to offensive guard a few years ago, but never heard anything after that.

He's a little under 6'5 and 311 pounds....I'm guessing the Jets will see what he looks like as an offensive guard first.

John Elway hinted around about that injury being one of the biggest factors in deciding if Denver wanted to draft Eddie Lacy or Montee Ball with the 58th pick.

Supposedly he had to have fusion surgery on his big toe and a lot of teams feel it might be a lingering/recurring issue during his career.

I saw that the Steelers took Bell 10 picks before we took Ball. Then the Pack took Lacy 3 picks after us. Interesting, because a few mocks had us taking Bell.

Also, i believe Elway said the decision to take Ball over Lacy was mostly medical.

Wonder who we take if all three were available?

I think Le'Veon Bell would have been Denver's first choice, as Elway indicated that Bell would have been their first choice at RB, followed by Montee Ball.

I really liked Le'Veon Bell and wanted to see Denver draft him, but I also liked Montee Ball and had no issues with Denver drafting him.

Not doubting you, but I missed him saying that. Got a link, or remember what forum he said it? Just curious.

I thought Elway said Ball was their top ranked RB
Gave Lacey the same grade but due to medical concerns went with ball

Then again no one is going to admit they had to settle

That would be a very rare thing for a GM to say. Where did you hear that SSJM?

Elway said Ball was his top rated RB. Period. It's on one of the interview videos on the Broncomania site.

That's completely believable, he is absolutely a perfect fit for us.

I am so stocked about getting him.

Like I said after he was picked, in our system he will be considered the steal of the draft.

Maybe I misread the tweets yesterday, but it sounded to me like Denver wanted Jamar Taylor, CB, Boise State or Le'Veon Bell at 58 and then Blidi Wreh-Wilson, CB, UConn or Montee Ball....but I've looked around and can't find any other quotes about it, so maybe Mike Klis was speculating and not relaying information.

Here are the only snippets I found pertaining to it:

http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci...os-having-ball

After the Broncos addressed their interior defensive line in the first round Thursday by drafting North Carolina tackle Sylvester Williams, they went into day No. 2 of the draft seeking a cornerback and a running back.

When cornerbacks Darius Slay and Jamar Taylor and running back Le'Veon Bell went off the draft board before the No. 58 pick in the second round, the Broncos had two workhorse tailbacks to choose from: Ball, whose Heisman Trophy chances last year dissipated because of an early season concussion, and Eddie Lacy, the 231-pound runner from national champion Alabama whose draft stock fell because of a toe problem.

Also saw this:

Mike Klis ‏@MikeKlis

CB Jamar Taylor or RB Le'Veon Bell had they been their at No. 58. But then it came down to CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson and RB Montee Ball.

Mike Klis ‏@MikeKlis

Broncos also considered DE Damonte Moore in second. Ultimately went Ball because there was a drop-off of "big'' backs after Ball-Lacy

Now that I've looked around, I think that was Mike Klis speculating....but he stated it like it was fact.
