So does this mean they blew the Bolden pick?

That's my thoughts exactly. They see something they definitely like.

Just a bad pick at this point of the draft. Hopefully he is better then I expect, but I think this shows that Boldin was wasted pick last season.

Everyone on these boards who is talking **** about this pick is relying 100% on the media "experts" for their opinions. It's kind of funny really. Those media "experts" also thought Geno Smith would be the first QB taken and that he would go in the first 15 picks of the draft. They are nothing more than moderately well-informed amateurs, which puts them roughly in the same category as many posters on this board.

And keep in mind that the kid is from a small program and that often causes players to be undervalued by the media.

A few sites say this kid is strong at the LOS, very good press right off the bat and sticks with people very well after initial bump. Maybe after watching the mediocre ravens receivers run free 50 yards downfield all game caused Elway and company to want to disrupt timing more than we did.

Well, he is very fast. We'll just have to wait and see.

****ing must be high or something. Expect a panic buy or two a week before the start of the season after we realise that we're WAY too thin at MLB like with Brooking last year.

In today's NFL teams need a lot of corners. I'm don't see why this reflects on Boldin at all.

How many corners is this team going to carry? Boldin is on the outside looking in at this point.

has anyone read any bio of this kid, explaining his flaws? Everything I've read is very positive, yet he is ranked fairly low.

Here are his measurables:
  • 5'10", 195 lbs - 5 lbs bigger than Harris, identical size to Bolden
  • basing on results from the combine, he should be in the 12-14th best CB (drafted as 15th CB):
  • 40: 4.41 (7th)
  • Bench: 14 reps (12th)
  • Vert: 35" (17th)
  • Broad Jump: 125" (12th)
  • Very productive in school
  • high character guy
  • can be involved in return game

Sounds to me like he got drafted about where he should have been. If nfl.com or whomever missed him, that's probably on them. Frankly, this reminds me a bit of the Wolfe pick - highly productive, under the radar.

By the way - each of Websters combine results were superior to Mathieu, and no one seemed to blink about him going early in the 3rd.

I'll trust the front office on this pick. Anyway you slice it, he's fast with decent size. Obviously the Broncos think he can fit in somewhere.

Champ, DRC, Harris, Carter, Bolden, this guy. Can they keep 6 guys? I don't see the first four going anywhere.

He does have a 96 yard fumble return for a TD against Notre Dame to his credit from a couple years ago.

Regardless, its a pick for the future. Just as any CB pick probably would have been.

Or is the a prelude to Champ moving to FS?

Elway and Fox saying on a presser, they thought CB was a need, they liked his upside, they liked his toughness.

All 3 picks were f'ing excellent.

Williams = Probowler
Ball = Probowler
Webster = Bailey!

Wait and see.

Webster would not have made it out of the 3rd round...way too much talent! And the intangibles are off the chart!

Watch his highlights. They're great. He jacks up both Geno Smith and Ryan Nassib! Slings them both to the turf. This kid can actually play!

Also a lot of pundits remarking about his excellent character. Had same theme with many of last year's picks. Elway doesn't want any wild cards messing up the mojo.

I'm not sure why some are worried about Bolden. He didn't show much to guaranatee a spot next year, so if Webster beats him out, oh well. It will probably be between Bolden and Carter if a CB is let go.

Six corners is not at all unheard of in the NFL today (you need four in the Dime, so that's only two on the bench). Webster could also end up playing safety based on his build and his physical style.

Carter isn't going to be released. Are you nuts?
