What I'd like to know is how it is illegal to ban common-use firearms but not illegal to ban common-use accessories for those common-use firearms such as magazines.

This stinks to high heaven. People need to start litigating.

We can also add another expert legal opinion to this. David Kopel of the Independence Institute, a professor of law at the University of Denver who was also personally involved in litigating the Heller case. He says the same thing.
