Geez, when you compare it to step brothers, that isn't a ringing endorsement. I like Will Ferrell's movies but that one was one of the bottom choices of his. Kicking and Screaming was better than Step Brothers.

Yeah. Step Brothers is a horrible movie. The Dictator, however, is one of Sacha Baron Cohen's BEST movies...

That's not much of an endorsement. A home video of paint drying is better than a Cohen movie.

Never seen Avatar(felt I'd already seen the movie only it was called Dancing With Wolves). Never saw Inception or any of Chris Nolan's pretentious crap aside from the Batman trilogy. Life of Pi(don't much care to see it) Slumdog Millionaire. Sixth Sense(heard what the ending was then saw no point watching)

If you haven't seen them watch Children of Men, and In Bruges.
Bleak, yet powerful films.

It hit home because I'm constantly fending people away from my drumset.

Sorry man. Just my opinion on some supposed classics.

Avatar is all about the visuals and the storyline is rehashed
Slumdog and Pi just don't grab my interest.
Nolan annoys me with his desire to be the smartest guy in the room style
sixth sense got ruined for me before I saw it. So I lost interest

I have yet to see any movies nominated for any of the big Oscars this year. Anyone who knows me and knows how many freaking movies I've seen, knows this is a HUGE deal.

naaa... it's more like a rehashed Pocahontas. It's all about the 3D immersion experience with Avatar. Other than that, its story is very generic.

Interesting you'd have such strong opinions about movies you haven't seen. Particularly when they're such great movies (especially, IMO, Slumdog and Sixth Sense). Your loss.

can't wait for summer and this flick!!! Love me some Neil Blomkamp!!! Think this one will end surprising like District 9 did. From what I have seen, heard and read, looks like this one will be a great one.

Hopefully he makes a Halo movie after this one.

You're right Beavis and Butthead is so much more mature.

It isn't like I am against these movies. They just for various reasons never grabbed my attention.

Every time I asked someone about Avatar the answer was always, the special effects are incredible or it looks great. Never anything about how good the overall movie was.

I really wanted to see the sixth sense but my gf at the time saw it and spoiled the big ending twist. After that I lost the desire to go see it. Then shyamalan made Signs and the Happening and I really lost interest in his movies.
