Same logic at different spots.
I am just saying he has flashed and in some big games. I am an Ayers fan, as I was a doom fan. One guy we don't have anymore. While there is plenty of evidence that Ayers is nothing special, there is still a little left to give hope that he might beast.

I suppose I'm just addressing the absurd concept that Ayers graded out better yet the coaches still gave Elvis far more DL snaps than anyone.

Elvis was better but not 12 million to 2 million better. More 6 million to 2 million.

I wish we had hunter. That would have made this easier.

Hunter was a nomad, moving from team to team, collecting paychecks and doing nothing. There is a reason we didn't even try to sign him again. He signed on the cheap with the Raiders.

And no... Elvis is not worth 6 mil.

It wouldn't surprise me if Ayers did really have a couple games where he outplayed Doom. Ayers has never been consistent though. Look like a man among boys for a game or even half a game. Then an also ran for several games. I don't know if it is motivation, lack of concentration or what. He was looking better and better, which might have effected the approach with Doom this offseason. Of course, he has looked like he was about to break out at the end of the season for a couple seasons now.

Here's to hoping it isn't that Ayers needs 12-14 games to get warmed up every season.

Ayers is slow off the edge. Always has been always will be. It's why his sacks totals are low his entire career college or pros.

i don't think we'll chase or reach for any position in the draft. the only reach we've really had under Elway was Brock but that pick was expected and had he gone back for another season and done well he'd likely be a top 5 pick in this draft due to the QB suckage.

Lol... the dude has 6 sacks in 4 season. He has played all over the defense and hasn't been able to generate sacks at any of them. He can't get to the QB. End of story. You either have it as a pass rusher or you don't. Even his college sack numbers sucked.

A player like Doom can rush the QB from any spot on D. That's why he owned OLD in 3-4 and DE in a 4-3. Heck... I bet he could apply pressure on the QB and sack him playing him DT in stunt situations.

No... Ayers never had a game where he out shined Doom. Maybe when Doom missed a game he became a little more noticeable.

Gotta love the zero sum approach to reading adverse opinions. There is no way that talking up Ayers could be anything but insulting Doom.

That has nothing to do with any=thing.

There is no way in the entire world Ayers replaces Doom as far as sacks go. Denver wil have to draft a pass rusher.

I thought that was obvious to everyone.

Actually it has everything to do with what I was responding to. All I said is that Ayers has shown strong flashes, while Doom was consistently good. Not an insult to either.

I also never stated that Ayers replaces Doom's sacks.

That would have been obvious if you read any of my posts.

I will state now, that I think Dooms production will be made up for, partially by Ayers.

OK DOOMS SACKS WILL BE PARTIALLY MADE UP BY AYERS 4 SACKS, IF HE STARTS. DENVER STILL NEEDS TO DRAFT A PASS RUSHER EARLY IN THE DRAFT.

Ayrers sucks, if he steps up great, if not, well we already knew and losing in the wild card is great right? Signed KC Chiefs.

This is the issue with Ayers - he will never be a 10+ sacks a season guy. However, he was used as an inside rusher in obvious passing situations, so I think the coaches still like his versatility. he can still generate pressure, but most of the time he won't get the sack

The key point about losing Doom is that it is a bit of a curve ball fro the FO - they planned to try and retain him, and nearly did. So what the plan is now i'm not sure. They could be looking for Wolfe to step up a little or we may well now be planning to draft someone. or both?

The beast is not within Ayers. This is false hope from an obvious bigger fan then those that are one as he is a Bronco. He isn't terrible by all means but he is far from showing any signs of being a beast.
