I sure hope he proves to be a good one this should be his breakout year if he's gonna do it

The draft is so incredibly deep with DE talent.. John Simon just lit it up at his pro day. Ran a 4.62 forty, was put in LB positional drills and caught every pass..

This is a kid we looked at, probably a late second to early fourth round pick..

When Elway used to take the field I had all the confidence in the world. I still do.

I also think Bass could be a good pro. He might be as good a player at DE than any one the Broncos could look at in the 1st round.

I think people are down on Simon because he struggled at LB during the Senior Bowl week. He shouldn't have been playing LB their IMO.

He started the entire 2011 season at LDE and then we drafted Wolfe and put him back in the rotation.

As for some mentioning Jeremy Beal, Jesus H Christ, the chap's been in camp for 2 consecutive years and has he even made the damn roster yet

Playing out your contract and not holding out is what you are suppose to do. Regardless, he wasn't worth that amount of money.

I know what you're saying, but there was a man named Rod Smith who was on the practice squad, didn't make the roster and then finally made a name for himself given the opportunity.

I'm with you. I don't feel confident about our pass rush this year since Von will have so much more focus on him.

...NFL.com's Ian Rapoport said Thursday on "NFL Total Access" that Freeney wants more than Umenyiora's $8.5 million base earnings. And as NFL Network's Michelle Beisner reported earlier, Freeney's willing to wait to get the deal he wants.

The Denver Broncos have been the team most closely linked to Freeney. The veteran outside linebacker also has spotlighted the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins as potential destinations. The Dolphins ($15.7 million) have the most salary-cap space to play with, followed by the Broncos ($8.8M) and Lions ($7.3M).

Rapoport says Freeney is open to waiting until after the draft when teams can reassess roster needs. Another possible window is training camp, when teams must react to injuries.

It's an interesting strategy by Freeney, but it's a gamble he must feel comfortable taking.

I think Beal went on IR, right? He was having a decent preseason, so maybe he who have made the roster. Really an unknown though.

With Dwight Freeney seeking $6 million per year in free agency and their interested in free agent John Abraham waning, Denver is exploring low-cost alternatives to replace Elvis Dumervil. Rather than overpay for pricey veterans, the Broncos "are starting to warm up" to the idea of starting Ayers on rushing downs and drafting a situational pass rusher.
It's a good thing that offenses don't ever pass on running downs.

I think you are correct. I thought Beal went on IR this last year, or was it the year before? Personally, I don't think Beal is gonna all of a sudden get 10 sacks, that is, I don't think the Broncos have been hiding him and now are going to unleash him. He is what he is.

Beal went on IR because the coaching staff didnt feel he was quite ready, but did not want to risk losing him to another team's practive squad

I think the RDE position will end up being a rotation of Ayers and a rookie

I would not be surprised if Beal is in the mix and we keep 5 DEs since Wolfe and Jackson can both kick inside

My guess is that we keep 8 defensive linemen, Wolfe, Vickerson, Knighton, Ayers seem like locks unless one gets injured. Beal, Jackson, Unrein, Garland and Siliga all have experience with the team and I expect at least 3 of them to make the roster.

No.

The Broncos can't afford to spend more than $3M on a situational player. Look for the Broncos to draft one of these four players at #28:

1. Damontre Moore
2. Cornelius Carradine
3. Margus Hunt
4. Alex Okafor

As I've stated previously, I would use a 4th round pick to trade up for the 20-year old Moore. The Broncos worked out the Eastern Bloc this week, so don't count him out.
