When a team captain bails on a team most consider a strong Super Bowl contender for less money well that's not a good sign.

He was butthurt from his own doing. I would have loved to have kept him on the reduced contract, but in light of the situation, it's a blessing he's gone. He would have been butthurt and bitter all year, and I think in light of how he handled this it's pretty obvious that he isn't very smart.

He's a good player, but I couldn't care less what happens to him moving on, and I think he was the most over-paid player in the NFL last year, and one of the most overrated.

Paid $31 million over 3 years, didn't hear his name once in the play-off game when we needed him most, lets just be done with this moron.

He's a hypocrite - he was insulted because the Broncos asked him to take a paycut then took even less to sign with the Ravens. The chip he has on his shoulder is one he manufactured to excuse his and his agent's epic failure in faxgate.

I'm looking forward to the Ravens/Broncos game this fall. I hope the Broncos DESTROY the Ravens.

Sad, but those are the breaks.

Golden opportunity for a young or unheralded player to step into a prime pass rushing slot, from the blindside, and playing opposite Von Miller, who creates problems all on his own, and on a team that should be forcing opponents into plenty of passing downs.

Yeah, he fired is agent... then went out and took less money.

Smart dude.

Peace Elvis. You were fun to watch, but I never recall you taking over a big game.
Miller took over more games last year than Elvis did his whole career in Denver.

Life goes on.

I thought I'd be more upset with him leaving than I am. Like you said he just didn't seem to show up when we needed him most in big games.

I'm honestly not that bothered by it. Like I said, I think he was one of the most overpaid, overrated players in the league.

Not exactly what I was expecting with the rat birds, but I still don't think they have much of a shot at a SB. Hope they can't reach 10 wins. I got a lot of love here for this comment about 2 weeks ago, lol. Again, **** you haters. And Doom go **** yourself.

The choice he made (taking less money to go to another team) is all the evidence one really needs to reach a logical conclusion that Dumervil and his agent actively attempted to snooker the Broncos into honoring the $12 million contract. I'm glad he's the Ravens' problem and not ours. It's clear to me that he wasn't operating in good faith and hasn't been at all honest about it.

I'd have more respect for him if he'd told the truth and said: "I feel I'm worth the $12 million and want out rather than taking a pay cut."

I just love the Doom bashing over this, but all the excitement over getting Welker to effectively do the same thing.

Before you accuse me of having a double standard here, surely you're prepared to post the (Welker) quote.

...for the quality of that team captain.

Dumervil was a fine player, but he doesn't strike me as particularly intelligent. For that matter, anybody who passes on the opportunity to build a career opposite of Von Miller has pretty well lost the plot as far as I'm concerned.

It will make it easier to keep DT and Miller when the time comes. It hurts to have a player we all liked snub our team and move on but also its fun to have players to hate. It will make watching the Ravens more interesting that is for sure.

Malik gets a chance to step up and maybe Wolfe plays at DE even more now.

Agreed. Everybody can claim the guy isn't a net loss, he's an a**hole and all the other disparaging things sure to come from fans that feel betrayed, but his absence represents a downgrade for our pass rush. Ayers isn't going to scare anybody.

I have faith in our scouts, coaches and the Elway-led draft room to find a guy that can replace Dumervil, but our priorities could've been a RB or MLB instead of a high pick for a pass rush specialist. Damit.

From my perspective as a Broncos fan... Dumervil could have gotten away with a lot of things. But putting himself and his ego above the team... being willing to try to pull a fast one in an effort to avoid a pay cut; scapegoating his agent in a strange attempt to shift the blame for something he clearly was orchestrating himself; wasting time dragging out the announcement of his decision; going to a rival AFC team for less $; and jumping on the media circuit to trash his former team.... all of those things are pretty much "not-the-actions-of-a-true-team-player"; they're what you'd expect from an egocentric flavor clown.

I'm just glad that Elway had the foresight to do what had to be done (set a deadline and cut his ass when he missed it). Dumervil isn't worth $12 mil this year and he's delusional if he genuinely believes he is.

Out of wounded pride, Dumervil set out to do damage to the team we all love... and he did it. He deserves every iota of criticism that comes his way. And if he thinks his new team isn't taking note of his actions on his way out of Denver, he'd best think again. The Ravens (front office/management) have to know they're gonna need to be able to negotiate salaries/cap numbers in the near future due to Flacco's contract. They aren't gonna trust Dumervil any more than Elway did.

It's business folks, I don't understand why the hatred. Dumervil took a job that he felt was better for himself and his family. I have turned down jobs that offered for more monies because I didn't feel about the situation or workplace so I hard for me to bash Doom for doing something similar.

Hey, if he'd said... from the moment contract negotiations started... that he didn't want to take a pay cut and wanted to go elsewhere when (not "if"; everyone knew that $12 mil contract was gonna be re-evaluated) he was asked to "take one for the team", I'd have zero problem with that. He's not irreplaceable... there was no danger that the team would consider applying the franchise tag to him rather than Clady. I have absolutely no issue with a player wanting to maximize his income whenever he can (player careers can be jeopardized or even ended on any given "down"); however, I believe he owed a bit of candor and honesty in his dealings with the team.

No, a replacement won't be as good as Dumervil was. But whoever he is, he won't be expecting a $12 million payday as "his due" either.

Doom is a better fit as a 3-4 LB were he had his monster year of sacks. I think that must of had something to do with his decision.
