Doom is gone... Screw him.. If he wants to take it personally then screw him. Let's sign Abraham or Freeney and draft Damontre Moore (Von's little brother at A&M) and we will win the super bowl w/o him. We will still have a great d-line in Abraham?Freeney, Knighton, Big Vick, and Wolfe. Good luck winning the super bowl with Bert as your franchise QB!

Broncos are now built to be a great regular season team and a playoff failure just like Mannings Colts and the Patriots of the last 7 years.

Welcome to 13-3 / 14-2 and no ring.

Also, Freeney will not be asked to start, nor will he command many double teams, so as a pass rushing specialist, I think he'll do fine.

Regardless, this isnt the difference between the broncos winning and losing the super bowl.

Plus, as you said, we'll see who else we signed with the freed up money.
I did watch a few Colts games and Freeney is done, now he is a small, slow and not very strong player.

The problem is if Freeney doesn't start then who does? we have no player on the roster who has proven to be a starter at that position.

The big problem with Freeney is that in the time it has taken me to earn a doctorate he has had 11 or more sacks exactly once, he has had less than 10 sacks 3 times (4 if you count the year he was injured, in that year he was not on pace to hit 10 sacks or anything near it).

What's the prospect of signing two of the available pass rush guys? Considering wht we were going to give Doom, we could reel two of those guys in for a fraction of that.

Ya cause dumervil did so well in the playoffs last year. Did he touch flacco?

I guess only 16-0 and no ring is worse eh?

Your second concern is the real one I share and is the main fallout from this unfortunate scenario with Doom. But I am much less concerned about losing Dooms production.

Overall, we are going to have a superior defense and for sure a superior offense compared to the ones we had last year as it is, even without Doom. With him would have made that even more so with the added consistency, but I definitely didn't want a butt hurt vindictive Doom on this team.

If he was going to take the whole screw up that he largely orchestrated with his agent the way he did, then I'm more than happy he's long gone now. We'll be fine.
The problem is that in the last 6 seasons he wasn't 33, if he had been 29 like Dumervil I would do that but when a player is 33 you can't take a season 4 or 5 years ago and hold that up as an expectation - if that was the case players would never retire. We have to accept that Freeney is 33 and he is not likely to get any better than he was, in fact all odds are that he will only be declining.

Look at the trend over the last 4 seasons: 13.5 sacks, 10 sacks, 8.5 sacks, 5 sacks. 24 tackels, 25 tackles, 19 tackles, 12 tackles.

It all points downwards, even when they let him line up wider in a 3-4 which should give him more room to rush - when lined Dumervil up wider he responded with 17 sacks (which was at the time a club record).

If this was one season of poor play and production that would be one thing, but it is a 4 year trend and there are no injuries in that time span that even begin to explain it, only the fact that he is older and slower and speed was all he ever had.

abraham and freeney both played home games on turf, which makes fast guys even faster. coming to the grass in denver, i have my doubts about either one.

Profootballfocus claimed Doom only had 14 run stops the whole yr. He had 8 penalties for offsides. That means he is use less in the run game and costs us a lot of plays on the defense.

Broncos should look for a real DE in the draft. One that has a chance to be good vs the run and the pass. Obviously draft picks sometimes crap out but we can start Wofle and Ayers outside if we have to . We still have an edge rusher in Miller. Then maybe look for a DT in the draft that can get can take some snaps from our medicore DT.

Who knows though Broncos could still take a chance on someone like Seymore. I would love to see Seymore and Abraham get signed.

The biggest reason they got more sacks at home is players just play better at home. They have bigger leads at home. Fact is both players on the same field so speed is relative.

Edge rushing more about body lean, quick reactions. and using your hands to keep olineman off your body and from gaining control over you.

Freeny was injured last yr so that 5 sacks not really fair. I'd still take Abraham though i think he fits our 4-3 better.

You guys are a joke. Everyone screams for loyalty from players but the second they are gone you do nothing but talk **** about them. I guess that loyalty is a one way street, eh?

I for one member member him signing a fat contract, then I watched him at TC tear a peck and ride the bench all year as one of the highest paid players that year.

That should have bought some loyalty from Doom, instead his agent F.... it up and he signs for less money elswhere.

We have every right to be mad at the guy..............

If you guys draft his replacement, I think Tank Carradine would be a nice fit.

Freeney is horrible. I think there is a good chance he doesn't make it out of training camp.

Sign Urlacher and draft a DE and going into training camp with Wolfe, Beal, Garland, Ayers, Jackson and Rookie all biding for playing time. Freeney is terrible.

Why do you say that? The Ravens gave him more money than what the Broncos were giving him before the fax snafu.

Denver's offer after the fax snafu was more than likely below the $8 million he got from the Ravens.

All things equal he would have stayed in Denver, but all things were not equal.
