I think they can still get something done. That much cap space they can get creative if they want to. If Elway thinks hes worth 8 million Id say they try and get something done still. Thats placing a high value on him IMO.

Hopefully. However, if he knew about this and it was done intentionally, he's going to tell Denver to **** off and signs with another team.

At which time I will root for AIDS.

He'll be costing himself money. Probably 2 million minimum.

But yes, if he did this intentionally, he's a piece of **** too.

Can't recall anything quite like this before.

There was an agent snafu back in 2004 when the agent representing Terrell Owens supposedly failed to meet a contractual deadline for voiding his remaining years with the 49ers. Owens signed a contract with Philly, while San Fran traded him to the Ravens. NFLPA got involved, and eventually a three-team settlement was reached.

In this case, we're talking about a league deadline, not a contractual one. Still, given the fact that this was supposedly only 7 minutes late ... and the result of a malfunctioning fax machine, I wonder if the league could be convinced to (1) allow Denver to rescind the release and (2) recognize the contract as valid from the time it was actually signed (or from the time that fact was communicated to the Broncos) rather than the time it was actually received.

Seems like this would (a) avoid a really huge lawsuit; (b) be in everyone's best interest without prejudice to any third party, (c) ensure that the intent of the parties is carried out and (d) ensure that Doom's agent was acting in good faith (because if Doom and/or the agent doesn't agree to it, that would pretty much prove it was a ruse.)

The Broncos save $8.754 million of cap room by Dumervil's release. But they lose the player.

I dont ****ing want Doom back. This **** is just straight unprofessional.

Elvis Dumberville is dead to me.

I say we give him a Glock .40 and send him down to Miami. Chances are 100 percent he does something stupid.

He's an idiot.

That would be the balance of 12 million minus 4.869 million. You are correct.

I got it now, I thought the claim was a negative cap hit of $4.89 when there's actually a net gain.

You know I was starting to write a novel today. Post-apocalyptic.

At the blink of the eye, perhaps when the Gods were at rest -- humanity had changed. The world as I once knew it no longer existed. Cities I had visited, people I had met and lands previously roamed could only be found in reverie. There were no more parks filled with people and families enjoying a beautiful afternoon. Malls that once attracted the masses were turned to rubble and empty. Concert halls that rang with sound and ecstasy were now bound by eternal silence. This is not Earth -- this is humanity’s graveyard. And for miles and miles, despite the existence of survivors I felt as if I was the only one. Vanquished and detached from what now presented itself as reality. In the immediate weeks following The Shift one simple thought continuously revolved in my mind: “How could it be possible for the course of history to change at the hands of a few mortal men?”

Now I'm going to write a novel about how this agent is a ****er.

Okay.

I'd guess they were in Florida, which means they were probably at Elvis' house, which means the agent had to take the contract and fax it. And didn't.

Thanks for reminding about this. Surely there is some kind of provision for this circumstance and the league will not be absurdly draconian about it.

Go get a quick end rusher to bring in on 3rd down via draft & he is replaced.

He now plays in the bush league in my mind.

He has been cut, end of story. We can resign him if they can agree on a deal within the parameters of the salary cap, or we can go get Freeney or Abraham.

I think this was the agent. 100%

Nothing Doom has done in his time here has been greedy. He never held out. He played out a 4th round contract.

Hopefully this can get resolved with the league.

Patience. Let the facts come out as they will.

Bacchus, you seem like a pretty intelligent guy, so I'm just going to assume your Doom homer tail is showing.

There is no way in the name of Baby Jesus Tebow that Doom didn't know this was going on. We're not talking about staying on the line to win free tickets to see REO Speedwagon at the state fair here. We're talking about 7 and 8 figure NFL contract negotiations. Do you honestly think Elvis wasn't on speaker phone with his agent, or even sitting in the office with the agent when they tried to pull this scam?
