Default Kolb?

So obviously if Manning goes down for the season, this team is ****ed unless Osweiler turns out to be extremely mature and talented But let's say Manning tweaks a knee and misses four to six weeks. How confident are we that Osweiler could navigate such a situation and keep the team in playoff position? Wouldn't it make sense to bring in someone like Kolb who you would have a reasonable expectation at least not to total the Ferrari?

Make sense? Yes? Happening? No. He'll go somewhere where he has a chance to compete for a starting job. The Jets are rumored to be his next destination.

Denver just needs to draft a young QB in the 5th or 6th round and they all can learn under Manning. Oz just needs to be ready if called upon.

What about Kevin Kolb gives you the idea that he'd be competant?

I'm confident Brock would be a top 10 pick this year.

I am not sure after watching Curtis Painter play that anyone is learning under Manning. That or Painter was EPIC Fail as a QB.

A cheap Vet would be a nice have for a 3rd QB, maybe we get one before TC starts.

I'd have more confidence in an unproven Osweiler than I would in the proven suck of Kevin Kolb.

BUt Curtis Painter sucks and was a 6th round pick. They'd never had anyone with Osweilers talent behind manning. Its not a fair comparison.

Kolb to the jets makes sense... when he's healthy he's pretty good.

From what i recall, the Jets have a terrible OL, so Kolb ain't gonna be healthy for long there.

Why is everyone so down on Osweiler? What little he has played has been decent. He was a raw rookie last year even. I have confidence in the dude to improve. Plus if you have Wes Welker as your safety blanket, its hard to be bad. Not sure what Kolb has done to give anyone confidence. I mean this is the guy that couldn't beat out John Skelton.

I heard on the light rail if Kolb was in this year's draft, he'd go in the top 15 overall.

Great... Another if/when Peyton Manning's legs fall off scenario. I so look forward to this place sometimes.

I'm not down on him at all. In fact I'm most concerned about throwing him out there if he's not ready and damaging his development. I would also like to have a Bubby Brister to fall back on if the need should arise. Wouldn't have to be Kolb but someone like him. Someone who will come at a decent price and won't **** the bed. Kolb is not a starter, but I think he could avoid a complete disaster for a few weeks.

I'd rather the Broncos just go with osweiler anyway. If Manning goes down, the season is over. Might as well see what osweiler brings to the table. Elway drafted him to be the next QB and he's already had one complete year in the system. Personally, I'd like to see just where he's at if Manning can't play.

I see what you're saying, and I agree. It gets kind of scary when you throw a young QB to the wolves. But really having him behind Manning for a full year should quell some of those concerns. Also you have to wonder if it would hurt his confidence if you brought someone in to be the 2nd string QB. I couldn't say for sure, but I trust Elway and crew will do the right thing.

With the exception of 1 or 2 games under Reid has he been hurt his whole career?

I'd go with Os. He's at least familiar with the team, players, etc.

Plus, I think he'll turn out to be a pretty good QB.

In John I Trust. At least for QBs.

Fear not, Brock will be a stud for us for a long time. That's my story and I'm sticking to it until proven otherwise. I'm not sure if he'll ever approach the mental command possesed by #18. Physically he has it all: size, mobility, accuracy, power. You gotta believe Elway knows exactly what he's doing when it comes to signal callers don't you? Oz is his hand chosen pet. We're good. (y)
