Odd what opportunities a franchise QB brings.

4 years $45 Million is a lot of money. However, I think this board and statistics overstate the potency of this offense. Yes it was near the top of a lot of categories, but the eye test showed a lot of stalled drives which I think Welker would improve upon a ton. That said, so would Steven Jackson.

On 3rd and 5 in a critical game situation, the Broncos are going to run it anyway. Why do we need this guy?

Well, he did have 118 receptions last year too and would be a tremendous upgrade from Stokley.

Welker should be jumping ship just because of how he has been treated over the last year.

Solid post Welker is hard to stick. It's like catching a chicken

Close to a million in dead money though. Any chance they're hoping to renegotiate him to a backup's salary?

The money is too much for a slot receiver when we can have a good slot receiver in Stokley for close to the vet minimum.

Agree. I would just prefer they spend this money on RB and defense. A LB or S who can cover a TE would be nice, for one thing.

The Broncos have made a multi-year offer to WR Wes Welker ... We'll see what happens now.

So it's your contention that Welker is just a slot receiver?

He was second in the league in catches last season. Smh.

I brought this up earlier, but what does this mean when we have to re-sign Eric Decker next offseason? Do we commit 35 million a year to our WRs alone?

I'd feel pretty sick if they called a bluff on that though and used their leftovers to bring in Doom instead.

I suppose it's possible, but with Bradley that would be quite a logjam.

This is what I've been thinking. The Broncos have other priorities, not the least of which are LB, DT & RB.

FA isn't over with this signing, plus the draft is pretty deep on defensive talent this year.
