Default Bruton re-signed!

Elway's Twitter: Thrilled we've agreed to terms on the re-signing of David Bruton to a 3-yr deal. One of NFL's top special-teamers who adds depth at DB.

Am I the only one who's iffy on resigning a strictly special teams guy? Of course Bruton has been a star special teamer as a gunner and punt blocker and continuity is good but man...he is a pretty terrible safety

No, he has no coverage instincts at all. Every time I see him out there on defense he is in the wrong place going the wrong way.

He is one of the top special teams players in the league and I believe him to be one of the main reasons our special teams have gone from being league worst to being among the top units in the league.

I'm furious about this! Absolutely furious! Do I have a reason to be? No. Is it offseason? Yes.

Furious, I tells ya!

i hate that nonsense, if he can play special teams like a beast and do nothing else then so be it. i'm not interested in seeing a guy who can contribute a little elsewhere but isn't nearly as good on ST's. that was one of my few issues with Shanny.

That is a lot for a ST'er, I don't remember Burns making that kind a money though that was a while ago now and not sure what inflation is like for NFL contracts.

We need to have good ST's and make teams go 80 yards to score. I don't hold much hope that Bruton will ever be more than a ST player but the one thing I like about Fox is he is willing to let everyone play and rotate guys in during the game. That is big as the best way to learn how to be a pro is to play with other pros.

Big difference of resigned and re-signed. Huge difference.

That being said, good deep deep depth and special teams guy. Someday, he will coach for the Broncos.

Just like Jay Cutler and now Elvis Dumervil were resigned to playing for the Broncos.

I don't recall Burns making as much either but Bruton is a bit more versatile in the fact that he can block punts where I don't recall Burns doing that.
