Sure, people are going to b**** and moan about it if they release him....but this is a business and if a player doesn't live up to his contract he is likely to be released. Doom signed a huge contract after his monster '09 season....and then he got injured and has produced 20.5 sacks in his last 30 starts.

those are not bad numbers...but do they warrant the dollars the Broncos are paying him? Maybe...maybe not...the fact they want him to restructure says they think they're not getting the bang for the bucks and unfortunately for most of the fans it's their opinion that matters...not ours.

If we sign Jackson and Osi with that money, I could dig it!

He ends up at NE or Pitt - where he will get his pre injury stats back.

The NFL has its share of bozos who make idiotic decisions.

They couldn't even pay Harrison 6 million a year.

Um, it wasn't me who asked Dumervil to take a pay cut. Obviously the Broncos don't think he's worth the money, which I agree. You don't, that's fine but getting mad at me solves little.

Klis' story says the Broncos haven't contacted Magid after the counter-offer was submitted. That's not an impasse, the sides aren't haggling, which is good news.

I would take that bet. His contract will not be worth 30 mill over 3 years.

Elvis is in full control here. Only thing going for Denver is the shot at the Super Bowl and familiarity.

Dumervilles problem is he is the second best pass rusher on the team. You can't pay your second best guy 30 over 3. Maybe we could do 24 but 30 is tough.

If we go after say Cliff Avril for the just a bit less than Doom I am going to be livid

Cliff Avril is a poor man's Elvis Dumervil.

Dumervil ****s on every pass rusher on the open market right now, if we release him we I can't say that its smart.

You're also wrong.

Doom and his agent also agree. He's willing to move money around, but he's not willing to take a paycut. And he wants a resolution by the start of free agency. Why? Because he knows that whatever money the Broncos don't give him someone else will. The agent is paid to make sure he gets his cash--they would take a paycut from the Broncos if the open market wouldn't give him at least what he's making now.

Dumervil will get top dollar if hes released, more than any other pass rusher would get this FA period. Bet that.

I'm cool with letting him go as a pawn for a Revis trade but poor idea letting him walk for nothing. What if he turns up in the AFC West? Or NE? We'll look like idiots.

No, it's really not. Guy who get to the QB get paid.

In all honesty, I don't see what the problem is. Take Doom away, and Von's production will decline. They complimant each other. In the limited window we have with Manning, just pay Doom and work towards a Super Bowl.

Oh, that's right. My mistake, as I though the front office would have winning a championship more important than saving a few dollars on a critical player's salary. My bad.

The problem here is that fans want and expect a Super Bowl. Mangement just wants cheaper returns, and players just want to get paid. That's how we the fans don't fit into the equation. Our expectations are not the same.

This what I said a few days ago. I can dig moving him for Revis, but outright cutting him, I could dig if we signed Osi and Jackson with that money. Otherwise I can't fathom the move should it happen..

Yeah...I'm not seeing how the Broncos have any leverage here. There is a short window of opportunity with PM. Getting rid of a double digit sack guy isn't the answer regardless of the cap number. Bowlen needs to accept that being a selfish pig can't happen every year. You have no leverage. He will be paid by someone...that's the market forces at work right now....so he can call their bluff.

We'll replace him with a FA pass rusher at any rate. But tbh i dont see the upgrade. Abraham is still excellent but old, Osi is known for being a poor run defender and Freeney falls between the two.

I could get on board it if we got Revis or Aso but otherwise it smacks of long term planning for a team with a short window.

Getting rid of a top 10 pass rusher helps us win a Superbowl how exactly

Osi is a better run defender than Freeney..

There is no way to get "onboard" with losing Dumervile.

It's a money move no matter how you cut it, with a team that isn't in a position where they need to make such a move.

This is a team on the verge on winning it all, and thus should be looking for pay a little extra to ensure it.

In the end it's all a busniess, and really we shouldn't be surprised that the team wants to save a little and put a championship in jeopardy because of it.

I'm sure Elway and the rest of the front office will be more than glad to explain how an elite pass rusher like Doom was expendable while we spend the next 10 years trying to replace him.

Par for the ****ing course.
