In CA when this happened they threatened to close state parks. Then some watchdog group found millions in money the state was sitting on. Guess where money was from? Yeah the state parks were hiding it, not accounting it, in fear of having budget reduced.

Its smart to see if we can get govt and military to tighten belt. Sure they will go down kicking and fighting but these cuts aren't even that much and have been blown way way out of porportion.

most liberals on the board were for way more then a 13% reduction in military spending.

You have chosen to believe the White House is lying when they stated they never approved the releases. I choose to believe the impending budget cuts are responsible for the releases. Budget cuts that were agreed upon on both sides. I'm curious as to what should have been cut rather than wasting money taking care of a bunch people who for the most part are not dangerous criminals.

Say you have a bill that 100% of congress wants to pass. Everybody loves it. Then somebody doesn't like it now, and they want to add a thing or 2 and the next thing you know, that 1 bill that everybody loved now has 20 items attached to it and has no chance of passing. Why do these politicians do that. I mean, if everybody liked the bill, what's the problem. Well, they don't always want the bill to pass, even if they like it. That would mean something good happened and our politicians are all about tearing one another down, not helping one another and working together. Not anymore.

Why not keep these illegals locked up and release the same amount of inmates from our state and federal prison systems that are not dangerous criminals. We would not be wasting money and at least these inmates are U.S. citizens.

Yeah its safe to say they will find the money to keep Bernie Maddoff in prison. Hell how many billions do we give away to other countries every yr? If its so bad we can't cut 85 billion from domestic and defense spending without releasing prisoners we have no business giving anyhing away. Hell even if Europe gets hit by an asteroid we can't afford to help right? because we are so strapped we can't afford to pay custodians to clean the capital?

Our govt doesn't get it. We want the same services for less money. Make these ****ers tighten the belt and get it done. I would call dept heads, and say make it work or find a new job. Trust me you tell the DHS director either make it work with this amount of money or I will find someone who can, they will get it done.

I think a deal could have been reached had Obama not needed even more new tax revenue in the deal. Repubs cant be expected to cave again on taxes so soon after caving on the income tax raise for upper earners.

They have to think about what the 45% of us who voted for them want also right? Or do you think it should just be let Obama have everything he wants? The Senate leader and many on Obamas team during campaign basically called Romney a tax cheating liar. You just can't expect repubs to be all rosy on Obamas liberal agenda. He frankly hasn't tried very hard to be compromsing. Oh yeah i know media paints him to be but hes not at all.

It is traditional in countries who like to think of themselves as having a democratically elected government to pander to the majority of voters, and since congress, the senate and presidential elections all had democratic popular vote majorities, you would think the democrats would get to do some politics....

Thats not how it works. It was the Democrats who started most of the blocking techniques Republicans are now using. Not to mention that a majority of Republicans won their elections and rightfully control the House.

We will see how gun control, immigration and the economy play out over next 2 yrs. Then we will see what happens. Dangerous play by Obama to be mr hardball when he could have went center. Instead he tacks right to pander to the super liberals upset with his first term.

I could care less what the media tells us the public is feeling about sequester. Anyone with a brain knows it was Obamas idea and the republicans liked it because they knew either way they would get spending cuts.
