Default Inside the Investigation of Leading Republican Money Man Sheldon Adelson

If you needed enough money to pick whoever you wanted to run the justice department, what lengths would you go to get that money?

http://www.propublica.org/article/in...heldon-adelson

Quote:
Internal email and company documents, disclosed here for the first time, show that Adelson instructed a top executive to pay about $700,000 in legal fees to Leonel Alves, a Macau legislator whose firm was serving as an outside counsel to Las Vegas Sands.

The company's general counsel and an outside law firm warned that the arrangement could violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. It is unknown whether Adelson was aware of these warnings. The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act bars American companies from paying foreign officials to "affect or influence any act or decision" for business gain.

Adelson has apparently spent $54 million on this election.

Just one more solid reason to have public funded elections.....and mercifully, on a much shorter timeline.

We won't hear a peep from the usual suspects. As far as they're concerned, conservatives are incapable of being sleazy scumbag ****wad crooks.

But the reality-based universe knows better.

Money has completely corrupted our political system from top to bottom. Politicians will do whatever they have to do to get elected. Special interestes will buy any politicial willing to take their money. Voters vote for candidates who promise the most hand outs. It's a ****ing joke and we did it to ourselves. Republicans, democrats, conservatives and regressives. To believe anything else is dishonest at best.

Yep. Amazing how they don't get pissed off until their guy (who wasn't able to win them the election) gets outed, and then they're pissed off at the whole system.

$10 says if they had won the election, they'd be defending where they got the money.

Or maybe they're just pissed because it really is the whole system.

Maybe.

But in your case and Dukes' case I can say with absolute certainty that is not true.

Maybe. I'm not really pissed. Power corrupts. May as well be pissed off that the sun rises in the East.
