That's almost verbatim of what I said. I could do that guy's job!
That scout could have said the same thing for about half of the guys who are going to be picked in the 1st round this year, and I would agree.

I only have solid 1st round grades on about 20 players in this draft. Tavon Austin isn't one of them. However, he is one of the best of the remaining players, therefore I have him going in the 1st round.

In my view, in a normal draft, I would only draft possible All-Pro players in the 1st round. Austin is probably not that. If he is there at the bottome of the 1st, when the Broncos pick, I would consider him against all other options.

However, as in all drafts, it's all about opportunity cost. What is the next best option? In a draft where there could be ZERO 1st round QB's and RB's, in a draft where the general consensus best Defensive player is a UT with 3 sacks, the best DE pushes up a lazy 8 bench reps, the best Safety runs a 4.63 forty, and the best LB is slower than an OT...it's pretty likely that a guy like Austin will go in the 1st round.

All fair points for him being a 1st Round selection. Even with all that going for the possibility, I still have trouble believing it will happen. As for the Broncos, I'd rather they take Ryan Swope at the end of the 2nd Round than Austin in the 1st if they want a slot WR. Or maybe even Stedman Bailey in the 3rd if he slips. I still think our selection is likely to be Eddie Lacy or Kevin Minter in the 1st, with an outside shot at DT or the Secondary.

The way I see it, the Broncos must draft a CB in one of the top 2 rounds. No CB worth a 1st will be there at #28, so they will wait until #58.

1. Green Bay will pick Lacy, as he is their best option (by far) at RB this offseason.
2. 4.8 is too slow to pick from an LB in the 1st.

I'd like to see Barrett Jones at #28. I think Kuper is done, and Jones is a great option.

Sorry about the 'delay', but my internet connection has crapped out and I am currently leeching off neighbors, my life has become incredibly busy of late so I haven't had the time to delve into this as much as I'd like and Banks, taken right ahead of me, was the player I was hoping to put in Washington's secondary.

Anyway, what's the hurry? I understand it's more fun when the thing snaps along in a hurry, but I kinda like the pace dictated by the 12 hours for the first round. Not everybody goes into this thing the same way and with the same degree of preparation, and we have backups in place to ensure that 12 hours is the maximum time.

What's the penalty if you misspell your draft pick's name?

BTW, RUN ON LBs!

I don't see it as a need like it may appear..

Ellerbe will be resigned to play WILB, he emerged because of injuries..
McClain is your big physical SILB to engage the blockers..

I think only depth needs to be addressed for Baltimore..

Yeah that just happened. While the Lions are not in the Raiders or Bengals class of thugs we are trying. Really it comes down to the players in the NFC North that need covering. The Bears just drafted Austin, Cobb corned the Lions last year, and Harvin. Plus the SP teams needed a boost.

With them cutting Aaron Berry and Titus Young for being D-bags, i doubt they grab one here. Althought I like him as a player.
