Harbaugh made Smith look good. His career stats, including the time under Harbaugh, are remarkably similar to Cassel's.

ChiefsPlanet is imploding, and rightly so. Horrible, horrible trade for the Chiefs.

KC traded their second round pick for this guy. And another conditional pick. Talk about being raped.

maybe 5-6.............this was another typical front office Chief mistake.

Good for us...set the fools back another couple.

There is no way in hell the Chiefs have the players to prop up Alex Smith like SF did..............what a bunch of idiots........

excellent. they give up too much for a player that could marginally improve their win total by a couple games, leaving them out of the postseason per usual, yet far away from #1 overall.

Harbaugh and Baalke absolutely fleeced KC. This sort of **** is why the Niners are elite and KC are in the ****ter. With Albert set to leave, the no.1 pick is going to go on Joeckel to replace him, their #34 pick is gone and the Chiefs will be NO better off than where they started off. Brilliant.

I will say this though... If I am the Chiefs then I am trying to trade the #1 overall pick. Move down a few spots, take Eric Fisher instead of Joeckel, and hopefully get that 2nd round pick back.
Unfortunately in this draft I think that is hard to do... no real standout players.

Hilarious. Yes, Alex Smith will possibly take the Chefs from terrible to 7-9 or 8-8 ish, but in the process they will lose a top 2nd round pick this year. In addition, Smith is good enough to hit whatever escalators in the contract will trigger another 2014 2nd round pick, but certainly not good enough to make the Chefs a contender. Best case, the Chefs might get a 1st round wildcard exit out of the Smith trade.

Niners will absolutely load up in this draft on rotational D-line, CB/and O-line depth and still have picks to take project/high risk/reward players. Very scary team Harbaugh is building.

I hope they do that. They already have 2 well above average tackles. Using picks 1 and 34 to maybe improve their team marginally is what I hope all our rivals do.

That has to be the route. But, it takes another team willing to move up. With no star QB's in this draft, what team is going to surrender a bunch of picks to move up?

Typical Chiefs, refusing to groom a QB of their own. I know it's a bad draft for QBs but you can take a chance on one these days with the way rookie contracts are and it won't kill your team like it used to.

Now they're going to be stuck with Smith for a few years minimum. Yeah, he's better than Cassel but marginally better IMO. And not worth what is being reported that they had to give up to get him.

Exactly my thought... It will be hard to do, but I wouldn't count it out.

They're not going to be able to trade that pick unless they sell it for real low value.

agreed... I didn't think that LT was a huge need for them either. But hey look how good the Dolphins are with Jake Long....

49er fans are celebrating like crazy. Being out here in Cali I've been exposed to everything that is red and gold. Alex smith is horrible. He would check down without even going through reads. His accuracy beyond 15 yards is among the worst I've ever seen. He got quite a few coordinators and HCs fired. Harbaugh is one of the best QB evaluators/coaching IMO and he twice looked somewhere else instead of smith. He knows smith can't get it done. KC will soon know too

This proves to me that the buffoonery in Kansas City starts at the very top with Clark Hunt.

I think he's been running the show since 2005.

48-80 overall record during that time.

Only bonafide Kansas City Cuckolds will renew their season tickets this season.

If the Chiefs or Reid liked Alex Smith, they could have signed him last season, giving up no picks.
