Default Alex Smith - KC Chief

The KC Chiefs have traded their 2013 2nd round pick to the 49ers for Alex Smith. Thoughts?

It's a second rounder plus a conditional pick (2nd to 4th) in next years draft. ADAM SCHEFTER.

I like that the chefs had to give up multiple picks and a high one this year. Divisionally speaking. SF is gonna get that much better though, dangit.

Sorry, forgot to put that. I'm listening to Jim Rome right now and he was talking about it. I didn't hear anything about the conditional pick, though I don't doubt it.

IMO that is quite a bit to give up. But he is the best QB available this year as well. Both in the draft and FA. I think he improves their team, but I'm not scared of them.

Anyone who thinks this doesn't make the Chiefs better is fooling themselves.

Matt Cassell is terrible- JV level compared to Smith. He will make that team better.

He effin sucks. Good to see the the Chiefs get another backup QB to run the team. Gotta love the Chiefs. What a ****ing sorry ass franchise. A 2nd round pick this year, plus a conditional high pic next year.

Stupid move by Kansas City to make this trade for Alex Smith and put the hopes and expectations of the franchise on his shoulders.

Dude has been nothing but average/below average, outside of the last 1.5 seasons under Jim Harbaugh....and even then Harbaugh recognized that Alex Smith had reached the ceiling of his potential and that it wasn't enough to achieve the level of success he wanted in the present and into the future.

Jim Harbaugh knew Alex Smith had reached his full potential and it wasn't enough for him to be his QB. Harbaugh saw him as a bridge to the start of the Colin Kaepernick era, which started a little earlier than expected after the Alex Smith concussion and subsequent playmaking ability that Colin Kaepernick displayed right off the bat.

Alex Smith has a career completion percentage of 59.3%, which is below average....and pre-Harbaugh it was even worse at 57.1%.

To put that into perspective, 59.3% would have ranked 21st among starting QBs this season, and 57.1% would have ranked 27th among starters. Smith had a great completion percentage last season, but it was a small sample size and was chocked full of dump off and check down passes. San Francisco is chocked full of weapons on offense and Alex Smith never utilized all that talent around him the last few seasons.

Alex Smith also has a career TD/INT ratio of 81/63, which stinks, but was even worse before Jim Harbaugh took over. Pre-Harbaugh his TD/INT ratio was 51/53.

I wouldn't trade a thatch of my ball hairs for Alex Smith.

The Chiefs=dumpster diving at it's finest.

Alex Smith has a concussion, doesn't get his job back, 49ers go with the young kid who takes them to the Super Bowl. Then, the chiefs come in and toss high picks at the backup player. ****ing hilarious.

San Fran now has 12 picks in this draft before the comp picks. That team is set up.
