I'll be interested to see how high Tavon Austin goes and then how he will be utilized by the team that drafts him.
A smart coach will line him up all over and take advantage of the mismatch potential he presents. If Tavon Austin played for Denver, I'd line him up in the slot quite a bit and have Peyton Manning hitting him in stride on the run 8 to 10 yards down the field and then watch him run through secondaries racking up YAC with that 4.25 speed. I've also been impressed with the way he plucks the ball out of the air in the red zone. Austin is not afraid to go up and get it in the end zone for a dude who is only 5'8. Here is a nice highlight compilation that was recently put together for Tavon Austin. They highlight his returns first, then his rushing skills, and then his receiving skills. It was bad ass when he tore up Oklahoma this season to the tune of 344 yards rushing and 82 yards receiving. |

FYI Austin's forty time officially was over a tenth of a second higher than the unofficial. 4.35 not 4.24. Same as Swope from A&M.
Goodwin from Texas ran the fastest for a WR with a 4.27 officially Last edited by SlyEli; 02-24-2013 at 10:19 AM.. |

Austin had a super short vert (32''). Pretty bad for his height.

Austin could be huge for any team that takes him. Guys like Harvin and Cobb have had a big impact over the past few years. I'd be fine with Denver taking Austin at 28 assuming he even makes it that far. Could be a game changer out of the slot or out of the backfield. I think Holliday has returns wrapped up and I'd rather not have Denver use Holliday on O. Dante Hall and Devin Hester seemed to lose a little something in the return game when they were made a large part of their offenses.

I saw him on most boards as a 4th-5th round RB.. He ran a 4.3 but he's 225-230! He was phenomenal on tape two years ago. I would LOVE him in the fifth round!

Markus Wheaton is a guy I am looking at, good speed, good jump, and solid career production. He also has excellent size for a slot guy and could be a really good pick in round 2.

I know it's like saying water is wet, but Denard Robinson is a helluva athlete. Honestly, I was pretty impressed with Tyrann Mathieu's interview. Obviously, he's been coached on what to say, but the kid is clearly pretty intelligent, not a complete Pacman Jones idiot.

Bell getting a 4.52 ain't bad. Bernard at 4.5 is absolutely pathetic for his size. Knile Davis is a good prospect, character and durability concerns. Blazed it.
Saw some turds run 4.7+ and a guy almost at 4.97. . . lol what a loser. |

Bernard may have run himself from the top of the 2nd round, to the top of the 3rd round. For Bell's size and build a 4.5 is plenty fast enough. He's got a really nice one cut downhill running style. Seems like a Fox back too. Wouldn't be surprised at all if we pulled the trigger on him as high as the bottom of the 3rd round.

He led the SEC in rushing for backs. Last year he came back stronger in the weight room than two years ago and he showed flashes of speed. He played scared like he was just trying to get through the year without injuries. Arkansas was a disaster last year. The team seemed to quit after all the adversity.

Swope has the smallest hands out of the WRs. 8"1/8 I think that will be his biggest problem at the next level.

But what is his value? He's so small.. 4.21 is lightning fast, but does he have functional speed..?

Davis was compared to McFadden two years ago for his speed/size combo before the injury. Some thought he would be better. |
