Deepwater offshore drilling bans have been shown to be a political stunt and nothing more, to make Obama look like Mr. Tough Guy taking out the Evil Corporate Entity. At the time, of course, the Obama Coalition were defecating their shorts in gleeful support.

Then after the dust settles, he quietly brings back deepwater drilling and offers up federal-owned waters for sale.

The reaction in the media will depend on who is in office at the time. Aside from that, though I've never visited that part of the Gulf of Mexico, their biggest problem is the dead zone where the filthy waters of the Mississippi River drain in.

Evil oil company executives have been a favorite media villain for years: JR Ewing and Blake Carrington.

I don't care that its Obama doing it. Not going to talk **** on it. I am just happy anytime a sane decision is made on energy. Next up he will approve the Keystone pipeline route and that will be built.

I just wish he would let coal fired plants operate more so we could get cheaper electricity. Exempt them from the CO2 stuff and make them focus on particulate matter etc etc.

they will but whats important to me is that he does the right thing and unclamps the oil industry. He'g going to gut some of their tax write offs so this could be a carrot and stick approach but we will see when they budget comes out.

I just want at this point for Obama to make some decisions I agree with. The election is over and no reason really fighting it out on who gets credit for something, or blame etc.

I hear he's going to approve Keystone, these are repub issues we wanted so we should be happy Obama is doing it.

I do agree though if Romney had won, and then opened up the gulf to drilling, the left would be going insane right now.

Instead they will mention it, say they are unhappy about it, but move one. It's ok though i hated medicare plan b but didn't really dwell on it much. The main thing is though more oil is good for our economy. Maybe Obama can buy some energy credits like Gore did and make it ok for the greenies.
