I live on a beautiful lake on the edge of the Ozarks, where there a lot of retired baby boomers. There are plenty of Doctors in the area but if you are dependent solely on Medicare and without a Medicare supplement it's difficult to get quality care.

It's not that there is a doctor shortage or that they would actually have to wait.

They say "the doctor is not taking any new patients at this time" or "we can schedule you in 6 months", knowing that no one will wait six months. What they are really saying is we don't want you as a patient unless you have excellent insurance. They do not want to go to battle with Medicare to get paid.

Well I've looked over the source document by the IRS and while it's very technical and a difficult read, it doesn't appear IMO to be making any kind of prediction of what premiums will cost under the ACA. I don't know where they got those numbers but they appear to be for illustrative purposes only.

this will drive those employees previously covered by their employer to go on the government dole.....forcing a single payer system.

Once that happens the government can then control your life because practically everything you do is health related......your job, your lifestyle, your recreational activities, your diet, etc.

The big problem is that your healthcare will be part of the national budget, which means it can be cut, reduced on a whim. For all you liberals who voted for this kind of ****...keep in mind the day will come when the Dems aren't in power...and then the Republicans will be in charge of your healthcare. Won't happen...they'll weigh whether potential earnings will be more than their medical school expenses....and when the government takes over the healthcare system, they will limit what a doctor can earn, which will mean there will be fewer doctors as they pursue other careers where the government doesn't limit their earnings.

Or what the USA could do is push more medications to a behind the counter, but doesn't require a RX and allow PHARMACISTS to be an entry point into the healthcare system thereby decreasing costs in the millions of dollars......if you travel overseas you'll often see that this model already takes place...

I have. The IRS appears to be using those figures for illustrative purposes only. Nowhere do they inidcate that there is any evidence that premiums for a family of 4 will cost 20K under the ACA. That number doesn't appear to be any kind of attempt at projecting premiums.

If it is, where does it say so and what do they base the numbers on?
