In this case, the player of his caliber almost always will get franchised because he can not pass the physical. Plus, the two injuries are Joints not soft tissue, which means they can be chronic and cause perfromance to drop drastically. Personally, I still think Clady is a little off from his first 2 years ability physically. Another injury, an essential one in protecting the QB is an issue for GM's.
With the franchise tag hit on the cap, and Clady's injury, I wonder if the Broncos would consider letting Clady walk and drafting a replacement? I know that sounds crazy, especially with Manning, but is it possible simply because of the contract issue and cap hit?

I'd transition tag him before I simply let him walk away. Cheaper than the franchise tag and you see what the real market for him is.

I was wondering why Clady was getting collapsed into Manning in the playoff game, this explains it. There was some talk about an injury to Clady, but needing to have surgery is pretty serious.

Yep. Lot tougher to go negotiate with another team when you can't even go and do normal drills then to stick with what you have known from Fox and company for the last 2 seasons.

That is some serious $$ required.
But but but Clady is all world. He is more important than those guys.

Most of the kiddies on here have never looked past their next pay check or in most cases allowance..

You really expect them to worry about something next year?

All they are concerned about is today. Spend it all and worry about tomorrow some other time.
