Alex Jones claimed that Hitler took Germany's guns.
Because people take Alex Jones seriously, this notion has spread: ![]() But Hitler didn't take anyone's guns - the Weimar Republic did, in accordance with the Treaty of Versailles. When Hitler gained control, Quote:

Found this on the ultra reliable wiki.
The 1938 German Weapons Act The 1938 German Weapons Act, the precursor of the current weapons law, superseded the 1928 law. As under the 1928 law, citizens were required to have a permit to carry a firearm and a separate permit to acquire a firearm. Furthermore, the law restricted ownership of firearms to "...persons whose trustworthiness is not in question and who can show a need for a (gun) permit." Under the new law:
On November 11, 1938, the Minister of the Interior, Wilhelm Frick, passed Regulations Against Jews' Possession of Weapons. This regulation effectively deprived all Jews of the right to possess firearms or other weapons.[7] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Germany Anyway, don't know why you have such a hardon for Alex Jones. The guy discredits himself at least half the time he speaks. And while I do like some of his principles he destroys his credibility with some of his whacked out claims. By going around and bashing him all you're doing is getting his name out, which will in time help his popularity and put more money in his pockets while making our society dumber. Just ignore him. Eventually he'll go away like Glen Beck. |

Who cares we don't compare to Nazi Germany an any way. We can make our own sensible gun laws. Remember though any executive order can just be simply overturned by any future President with a new executive order. The only way for real change is Congress. IMO some CA style regulations on clip size, background checks, waiting period for handguns wont kill anyone. But any sort of ban on guns, or making it super hard to obtain ammo, those things are unconstitutional IMO. Its fine for things like driving a car but not for a constitutional right.

The only reason Hitler would even come up is the usual attempts to wield him as a weapon.
Regardless of that, the Founding Fathers made it clear in their writings that the main motivator behind the 2nd amendment was self-defense from perils both external and internal. We've seen enough examples in history of what can happen when a citizenry has no ability to fight a government with a strong centralized power base. It's just too damned dangerous. Unfortunately there are those who want us disarmed and make no hesitation to cash in on the bodies of children and movie-goers to do it. |
